I am sorry I have not been able to find an article but I heard it on the news last night.

Some teenager is spending 10 days in jail for vandalism.

It seems he lived in the neighborhood of the Virgin Mary sprinkler stain on the side of that building. He has been very frustrated by the traffic and the people for the last couple of years. I can imagine that this kind of thing can make life misrable for those in the neighborhood.

He decided to use his sling shot and the Virgin came down. No more miracle. It seems that Gods miracle was brought down by modern day David.

Interesting twist.

Anyone else hear of it.

But if one reads the article, it says that he didn't do it because of the religious side anyway. Just to get some attention.

There was a kid 30-some years ago that set fire to the church I used to attend. I was too young at the time to understand what his issues were, but his story always intrigued me. Never did find out why.

Radrook became unhinged yesterday, swearing and casting wide aspersions. Now he's just engaging in babbling lunacy. When he's not trying to goad me (and others) into acting in kind towards him.

From the little Ive seen about foster kids yeah I will bet hes angry, but even if Im mad at the slow car in front of me I still cant run them off the road.

I think punishment should be creative in these matters. I think there should be some big time counselling with follow up and responsibility enforced. To toss him into jail will just enforce his ideas and probably get worse. Its probably hard for him to value something when he probably feels no one has valued him.

As for the folk that are going to miss their Mary on glass they are entitled to be upset at the loss. But they need to remember (from a biblical viewpoint) Jesus said Heaven and earth shall pass away: but My words shall not pass away. In other words things can be destroyed like the window, it may be a interesting thing to see but its not whats truly important.

Whats truly important is that boys life and how ALL involved treat it.

If he was smart, he would've just cleaned the window, then he wouldn't be in trouble and solved his problem.

For christians to push harder punishment simply because they believed there to be a miracle in the glass is just wrong.

I don't read what Kitty wrote as pushing for harder punishment. It seems to be a call for rehabilitation to adjust the kid to become a decent member of society. If such is called for in this case, or if Kitty's recommendations would even bring about the desired end is certainly open to debate. I see no reason to read more religious vindication into her post than she put there, however.

Once they get the new glass up, I'm sure God can get Mary to pose for a redo, but she's really busy burning her face into tortillas, so be patient.

Thank you for understanding where I was going with it, the kids life is more important than the window.

Any religious push I may have would be directed to the people of the church to remember they are not worshiping a window its supposed to be God. That may not matter to most here but heres a wonderful example of what a "true" christian should be doing (it was brought up on another thread) They should do that which would honor God, show the boy he has value over a window.

(btw my jury in my mind is still out on these apparations, if it isnt already obvious)

Let the courts deal with the vandalism.

Ten days seems fair. I’ll bet that glass cost a lot.

Luckily stupidity is not illegal because I’m pretty sure worshipping a water stain would get you three days in the electric chair.
