Moderate hit for creationism.

The only two Catholics I know of who believe in creationism are my mother and that jackass who founded Domino's Pizza. I don't think this will cause a stir in the Holy Mother Church. I went to a Catholic High School and the subject of creationism never came up in Biology. I can see the whacko fringe of fundies finding another reason to hate Catholics over this but they had a long list already.

I went to a Catholic school for a few years, too. (In VA as well). It was a long time age, but I don't remember creationism coming up either. Our science classes seemed to be on par with the public schools in the area. The school was run by nuns, and they were really big on Mary. Lots of talk about her and Jesus, of course, not a lot about creation. They left it at "God created the heavens and the earth."
The nuns did, however, remind us a lot about the whole "burning in hell forever if you sin" thing. And the head of the school, Sister Camille, kept her paddle hung on a leather string in her office. My buttocks tasted the hickory on more than one occasion, praise Jesus.

Correct me if I'm wrong but...
If a god was the source of abiogenesis, then evolution took over from that, we are the results of that evolutionary process. That being the case, we were not "created". We just happened along because of the environmental pressures that we used for our survival. We are merely the fortunate survivors on a hostile planet where 99.9% of all life before us became extinct. Therefore a god is not necessary or responsible for the path life took to the present day.

This is my problem when I hear the religious ones claim science is in line with their superstitious beliefs.

Ah, but you forget that god set everything up just so that all life would evolve the way it did.

Of course, if someone would say that, they would be saying that god set up 99,9% of life to fail, which isn't a nice thing to do.
