Nope, that is the 'Armonica' of Ben Franklin fame, as mentioned above.
Go ahead, spoil the joke, ignore the fact that the site that was taken from refers to them as Harmonicas, and that "Armonica" is also a perfectly acceptable spelling for harmonica of the "blues harp" form (ok, in Spanish and Italian, but still...)...crimresearch said:Nope, that is the 'Armonica' of Ben Franklin fame, as mentioned above.

*ducks, runs*
*yeah, I know, some will pedantically call it a glass reed, just as a flute has an "air reed", but that ruins the joke...
Not a whole lot. It's just that it seemed a tempest in a teapot on this thread--my own first reaction was "pedal harp? I had no idea", and I wondered whether you, south of the Mason-Dixon, had a similar or different initial reaction. It seems to me that the choice of words led to confusion, and I wondered whether that was my biased perception or whether others would have had the same reaction.c0rbin said:It might not be the first thing that comes to mind, but what does that matter?
No argument from me. It is also a legitimate term for several other things...
Harp is a legitimate term for harmonica.
Fair enough.
And, IMO, "trained on the harp" could be sardonic enough to mean the harmonica. I do not have enough of a sample of the author's prose to make a determination of style.

But noooooooo....you had to let the air out of my little joke....
