I should hope so. He's certainly displayed a big part of the reason. I haven't seen this kind of snobbery out of Euroupe since George III.

CFLarsen said:That's not the point. Where did they come from?
Ed said:To try, with no real hope for success, to get a bit on topic, I think that where we are is that-
1) Rights in the US are inherent, i.e. not granted by government.
2) Ownership of arms is one of these
3) Disussion of a militia with regard to gun ownership is an irrelevance
Are we pretty much all on the same page now?
I am still curious, Claus, as to where your rights come from. Are they granted by your government? That is to say, if they are not written down, you don't have them? I suspect that is where you went wrong on the gun control issue in the US.
CFLarsen said:"Us", as in USA? Nothing, I guess. It merely underlines why the country is becoming a religious nightmare.
Larspeart said:Pretty much sums it up.
And Claus is a pissy bitch.

I wasn't going to take any pokes at Denmark - for the same reason I refrain from tripping blind people - but your arrogance is far too much. Enjoy your irrelevancy, Claus, you're upholding a proud European tradition.
Any newcomer to Denmark may join the Danish National Church in one of the following ways:
Persons who inform the authorities on entering Denmark that they belong to an Evangelical Lutheran community other than the Danish National Church will be informed on being entered into the Danish National Register that they will be registered as members of the Danish National Church.
Ed said:In the US they do not come thru a human agency. You can call that anything you wish. That is to say that we are not beholden to a government for those rights. If push comes to shove, as it does occasionally, we can point to these "God given rights" that cannot be removed via law. Your rights, and lack of a statement that they are above the interfering of government, provides you with no such protection.
Jocko said:Well, natural law IS mentioned in the Declaration of Independence, as I stated before.
...to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them...
CFLarsen said:No, we prefer to rely on democracy instead of some imaginary deity.
