I wasn't going to take any pokes at Denmark - for the same reason I refrain from tripping blind people - but your arrogance is far too much. Enjoy your irrelevancy, Claus, you're upholding a proud European tradition.

Now, now....I've known lots of European folks, even lived there for a while. I recently met a couple of charming visiting professors from Denmark.

It is no more fair to Europe to link Claus to them than it is fair to skeptics to be associated with his irrational thought processes.

In the US they do not come thru a human agency. You can call that anything you wish. That is to say that we are not beholden to a government for those rights. If push comes to shove, as it does occasionally, we can point to these "God given rights" that cannot be removed via law. Your rights, and lack of a statement that they are above the interfering of government, provides you with no such protection.
 
I have often found it strange to think that something (like life) which can so easily be taken away by some punk with a gun, knife, rope, or pointy stick, can be called a "god-given right", granted by "natural law". And that, as Shanek pointed out, these "rights" were only listable through considerable compromise. They certainly behave (these "rights") as if they were a human creation...

Well, natural law IS mentioned in the Declaration of Independence, as I stated before. Keep on that line of thinking, Claus, and maybe you'll accomplish something to make me reconsider the value of your continent.

I believe Denmark also has an official state religion.

You do know that athiests enjoy the same rights as the religious? Explain that if you can, you pompous windbag. Right after you explain your state religion, monarchy and other "progressive" ideas.
