Military drones in use over USA skies!!!!!

From the article comments:

GM jack. I can see the drone taking pictures. I just don't understand why it needs to be escorted by the manned airplane. But I'am sure they have their reasons.
But Jack....they were "keen " to point out.......and certainly our govt wouldn't fib.
you got it Mary makes no sense.
I guess that means satellites are no good. Or are they just getting us use to seeing drones?
...slippery slope, this one....

You know those roadsigns with FEMA barcodes on them? Run the other way!

But that is how the UN troops will be driving!

Because as we know, all them shifty furiners drive on the wrong side of the road.

So odd, only 1/3 of the planet drives on the left yet the nuts imagine all the invaders will drive on that side?

I guess so. They sure thought the reverse sign thing made sense.

Double recursion Meta Fallacy?

Nice.

I predict the "Oh noes, DRONES!" conspiracy theory will be with us for a while. For most of the uninformed, the only association they have for the word "drone" is what they've seen on TV coverage overseas over the past few years. They either don't know, don't care or have conveniently forgotten drones and UAV have existed and been used in the US for generations. Every kid who has flown an RC airplane has experienced a "drone."

It's analogous to the wingnuts who recently went bonkers over the "revelation" that IRS agents carried guns.
:covereyes

I think drones would be a huge help over large cities especially in highspeed car chases. Cops could shoot the cars with painballs filled with IR paint and drop back and let the drone follow it. Cut down on accidents.

They're coming so put them to good use. We could build an Eye in the Sky like we had over trouble spots in Iraq where we could rewind the surveillance footage from an incident to see where the bad guys started from. We actually did that in Iraq to find insurgents.

It would be like a cheap time machine.

So it's Britain and some of the Commonwealth that are invading?

You wouldn't even need the paint. I was just at a conference/trade show of optics and photonics, and one company was demonstrating their multispectral camera, which took real-time video in 16 different spectral bands. The had a video showing how they could track an individual car in a street scene by noting its unique spectral signal spread over all these bands, kind of like an optical fingerprint.

But even if someone doesn't realise that drones aren't new, I still don't understand all the fear. People been flying planes over USA skies for pretty much as long as it's been possible to fly planes. Now some of those planes have pilots sitting somewhere other than the plane. Exactly which part of that am I supposed to be scared of?

Apparently, the part where the drone becomes sentient and fires a Hellfire missile through your window. I'm still not sure how that whole "becoming sentient" process works, perhaps I should ask Skynet.

The conversation invariably goes along these lines;

CT (Conspiracy Theorist): "Drones flying overhead, spying on us!"
NP (Normal Person): "Law enforcement has already been flying manned surveillance aircraft overhead for generations."
CT: "Armed drones!"
NP: "Law enforcement surveillance aircraft are just as capable of being armed and would have far better target acquisition from the human pilot."
CT: "Squirrel!"

Forget the pilot. Law enforcement helicopters in the more dangerous areas of the United States carry police snipers as passengers.

Oh noes. Can the FEMA death camps be far behind?

http://worldnews.nbcnews.com/_news/...fted-to-tackle-massive-yosemite-wildfire?lite

Actually FEMA is in charge of much of the effort to evacuate locals from the fire.......I think maybe I should get a warning to them that they will end up in a Utah gas chamber?

But anyways right now is the time to panic over robot warplanes over our skies!!!!!

:p

Are you talking about Fusion Centers like the one in Colorado that has a prison euphemistically called a "Family Resident Center?"
