Michelle Bachmann Chews Out Stephen Hawking

As always, Michele is a super smart, well educated, caring person who puts others before her self, a high achieving female should about cover it.

If she's so super smart, by now she should have heard that she made a gaff on Stephen Hawking and should have retracted what she said. Has she? If she's so caring, she should apologize to Stephen Hawking for her unwarranted attack on him. Has she? If she's so well educated, how is it she espouses creationism?

ABC10;9813121I believe in America said:
Yes, we all believe in America and the first amendment rights to freedom of expression. However, freedom of expression does not give one the right to teach falsehoods in public school. Also, those elected to public office ought to be more responsible than the average American about their use of free speech, not less.

When we have representatives on the House Science Committee who say we shouldn't listen to scientists, that's a big problem.

What did Bachmann say about Hawking that she needs to retract or apologize for?

Quoted from the OP:

Rep. Bachmann unleashed a blistering attack on Dr. Hawking, who earlier referred to his mistake on black holes as his “biggest blunder.”

“Actually, Dr. Hawking, our biggest blunder as a society was ever listening to people like you,” said Rep. Bachmann. “If black holes don’t exist, then other things you scientists have been trying to foist on us probably don’t either, like climate change and evolution.”

Rep. Bachmann added that all the students who were forced to learn about black holes in college should now sue Dr. Hawking for a full refund. “Fortunately for me, I did not take any science classes in college,” she said.

She should retract and apologize for what I've hilited.

No. Why would I be joking. I didn't say she was likely to either retract what she said or apologize for it. I said she should. What is it that you don't understand?

Re-read the OP. Maybe the whole first page of this thread. The article was satire.

I don't understand how you could miss that she didn't actually say any of those things.

OMG, I love Michele's comments. She is so right. I understand that some boys are threatened by strong, educated, smart, beautiful women. It's the boys problem not hers.
And the climate has been changing since 4 billion years, but the "scientist" like Mann and Jones who perpetrated the Global Warming Hoax have given them a bad name, as has Hawking with his "black holes".

Could you clarify that?

ETA: Okay, color me silly. I thought the parody was just about Hawking and that Bachmann had made her remarks in response to it. I realize now that Bachmann's remarks were also part of the parody. I guess I so readily fell into the trap because of other scientifically asinine stuff she had said. I'll go soak my indignation in a n ice bucket.

You are responding to the OP as if it was a real news story.

It is not.

She never said those things about Stephen Hawking.

Don't worry. About half the people contributing to this thread are still of the impression that she actually said those words.

But, she did not.

She never said anything to Stephen Hawking.

It was made up by a satirist.

I didn't know that. Thanks for clarifying.

Got it, as you will see if you look at my ETA for post # 130

I did say that some people will be disappointed to find out the truth, such as all those "smart things" she said that were actually made up by a satirist.

If she did not say it, she should have said it. Very clever comments. ;)
Laughing about TOTUS - teleprompter of the United States.

I think we've discovered some bizarro-version of Poe's law.
