"Denying History:Who Says the Holocaust Never Happened and Why Do They Say It?" by Michael Shermer and Alex Grobman was supposed to be the ultimate refutation of holocaust revisionists/skeptics. But these two politically correct skeptics have shown that the methods they used in the book to try and refute the holocaust revisionists/skeptics are dishonest and not objective or scientific-

Can you summarize the main reasons why Shermer and Grobman are "dishonest and not objective..." -- in more-or-less your own words?

Is Mattogno really dumb enough to think that he's going to fool anyone who's not already been driven frothing mad by denialism; or is he just trying to make normal, decent, honest people throw up in their mouths?

In 1995 Michael Shermer debated Mark Weber of the Institute for Historical Review (www.ihr.org) on the holocaust/holohoax. It was an interesting show which I think Weber won. If Shermer reckons he won the debate why doesn't he talk about it or sell the dvd at his site?

In my experience, the only people who use the term 'holohoax' are raving mad anti-semites who's only real complaint is that the mass murder of Jews in WWII was not completed.

Well I'm just going to assume that there's no emotional trigger here or political viewpoint that's being defended and that this person is just honest to goodness intellectually convinced for whatever reason that this event didn't happen. It's best to not even bother with saying things like "Well you just think that because you hate Jewish people." because that is not just ineffective, it's not the sort of logical evidence based argument we're supposed to be making is it? For the record I think the evidence that it occured is overwhelming to the point where denial is akin to moon landing denial, but I'm willing to be shown evidence to the contrary (though I doubt it'll ever be presented).

Rhetoric aside, Mondial, why do you think the holocaust didn't happen?

Having not watched/read the debate the following question comes to mind:

Lets suppose for just a second that your right and Weber "won the debate", meaning he was more convincing. Why would that be evidence that the holocaust is a hoax?

Maybe, because for people with a certain mindset, everything is evidence that the Holocaust is a hoax? Just guessing here, but Mondial isn´t the first denier I meet, and they pretty much all operate from the same premises.

Why should he? I don't see the IHR selling Shermer's books on their site.

No, I think he's playing to his audience of drooling idiots. No one else would have ever stumbled across that review, unless pointed to it.
 
Holocaust denial is to history what astrology is to physics and creationism is to biology. It would be very much a part of that academic discipline if accepting its validity didn't involve denying the overwhelming weight of evidence. As it stands, it's simply bunk pursued by people with an agenda.

What's your agenda, Mondial?
 
You see that's the thing. Even if he does have an agenda, he's not going to admit to it. The best bet is to take a look at all his evidence (if he should present any) against a holocaust and (barring the unlikely chance that there's actually some with some substance), all he'll have left is the agenda.
 
Well THAT was interesting. I tried to click on the IHR link that Mondial provided and found it was blocked by my work. Well, that's not such a big deal. There are a few sites that get blocked for no discernable reason. What was strange was what happened afterward. Within a couple of minutes of trying to click the link, I got an e-mail from our IT desk telling me I had attempted to access a "site containing extreme racism, sexism or other hateful content". I was advised to remove any links or cookies I have to that site and that failure to do so might be considered grounds for dismissal.

So I'm not sure what the "Institute for Historical Review" has to say, but it must be pretty strong stuff. I've never gotten that message when I accidentally clicked on a porn site. (You'd be amazed at what normal-sounding names some of them have.)

Institute for Historical Review is a holocaust denial site masquerading as legitimate history.
