I hope it wins best supporting actress.
I hope it wins everything in sight.
I hope its sweep of the awards makes James Cameron and Titanic look like a pathetic loser.
I hope Michael Moore gets up on the stage a dozen times on Oscar Night and makes a dozen speeches about how Bush and the Republicans and Halliburton want to rape and kill your grandma - and not necessarily in that order.
I hope every speech Michael Moore makes is interrupted a dozen times with standing ovations.
I hope every ovation interruption has a shot panning over the Hollywood glitterati as they ecstatically cheer their hero.
Or as a friend of mine once described it: "It's a circle-jerk with trophies for the best jerker."zenith-nadir said:People in the industry who stand to gain from an Oscar win are the same people who are eligible to vote. To be an Academy member one must be a Hollywood insider.
Thank you. This should be appended as a footnote to every Oscar discussion.zenith-nadir said:I've worked in film and television for the past 15 years, allow me to explain the "Oscar" scam. A jew in the film biz...go figure..
The Oscars are not the "best" of the year. It is an insider popularity contest for the year and a device for Hollywood to repackage a product in order to extend it's sales. Notice how ads tout "Oscar winner" and "Winner of best picture" and "Winner of two Oscars" the day after the Oscar winners are announced. Hollywood is rebranding the product. And Joe Q. Public buys that rebranding hook line and sinker and ticket sales go waaaaaaay up for a short period.
Who are the Academy members?...the people who vote on the Oscars? They are the people who win Oscars. People in the industry who stand to gain from an Oscar win are the same people who are eligible to vote. To be an Academy member one must be a Hollywood insider. Conflict of interest? You decide.
So Hollywood insiders - who vote for the Oscars - will probably give Moores crappy documentary alot of votes because Hollywood is generally made up of delusional liberals who hate Bush. There has been only two movies in my life I have walked out of and Moore's picture was one. Not because of it's topic but because of it's endless innuendo and supposition.
I never watch the Oscars because it is a scam. It's is akin to Ford voting for the best Ford vehicles of the year, then putting on a big song and dance production to say "Hey aren't these great cars" and then using the winners of that song and dance production to rebrand said Ford vehicles in the media as the "best of the year".
