Michael Cohen's Congressional testimony

I interact with lawyers all the time. If my lawyers were committing tax fraud on their personal accounts, I would have no way of knowing it.

Pro tip: the fact that bob the coward does not have interactions with lawyers does not mean it does not make sense. Most folks would substitute another profession, say a teacher, parole agent, bartender, etc...

Substitution then yes. A lot of people tell me about things they do in their lives, even illegal stuff. And I definitely don't want to know

Would you know that your lawyer is cheating on his taxes, or your doctor was writing scrips for oxy to others to support his girlfriend?

Answer honestly.

I'm not a real estate mogul who writes checks to reimburse my Lawyer for hush payments made to porn stars. I'm not someone who needs a 'fixer' for my various interactions with state and federal tax authorities... But, if I was, I like to think I would know just what kind of Lawyer I had hired to deal with that stuff. It seems to me that would be standard due diligence.

I also like to think that my 'gut instincts' would inform me if my Doctor was peddling opioids on the side. I could of course be wrong, I'm not sure my gut is as highly developed as Mr Trump's...

If your lawyers made payments to others on your behalf and expected you to reimburse them do you think you would know it?

Intersting, the answer is: not before they were incurred unless they exceed $10k, and in any event I would not be advised in the ordinary case because the big dog has people. ;)

Didn’t Cohen testify he did not touch the trump taxes?

Huh. Well, maybe if you don’t have experience dealing with professionals you should say “I have no opinion on that.”

Maybe sit this one out?

Trump Tweets

Virtually everything failed lawyer Michael Cohen said in his sworn testimony last week is totally contradicted in his just released manuscript for a book about me. It’s a total new love letter to “Trump” and the pols must now use it rather than his lies for sentence reduction!

The brand new manuscript for a new book by failed lawyer Michael Cohen shows his testimony was a total lie! Pundits should only use it.

I do have an opinion. I have people I have small interactions with talk about activities with me that are illegal. If you are including bartending, then they are professionals by that standard.

There isn't anything to sit out. You are not asking for judgement. You are asking for my personal experience

Cool cool... bob has no interactions with lawyers, has opinions about bartenders.

Thanks.

That thanks better be genuine. You explicitly mentioned bartenders in your statement of making a substitution. I had no intention of bringing it up until you said most folks would.

“Trump is too stupid to know better” is the only defense these pathetic and desperate people have left.

Who exactly ya calling pathetic and desperate, johnny karate, because the only people that would think of making such an argument are leftists.

If your lawyers made payments to others on your behalf and expected you to reimburse them do you think you would know it?

And if his lawyer was inflating or deflating the values of his client's assets depending on whether they were being assessed for collateral or tax, do you think the client would know it?

He has claimed above that he would not (does not?) know what his lawyer is doing with his money. He appears to think this is normal.

Trump also picked up the GOP questioning of Cohen when they accused him of being a bad lawyer and giving his client Trump bad advice. Trump latched right on to that one claiming Cohen gave him bad advice rather than Trump initiating his criminal behavior himself.

No, a “leftist” wouldn’t argue something as ridiculous as the idea that Trump has no idea that the criminals and swindlers he surrounds himself with are actually criminals and swindlers.

Such arguments are left to the pathetic and the desperate who are watching their sad little world crumble around them.

You are right, at least sort of.

The thing is, Donald Trump is the sort of guy who has, all of his life, lived on the margin of the law. Admit it. On a personal level, the guy is pond scum. Right? I mean....Trump University? Can you try to defend the indefensible there? He tiptoes around the law, always trying to stay on the right side of it, and frequently succeeding, with so far only an occasional, or not so occasional, civil suit where he got caught.

In order to do that, you have to have lawyers who are willing to play along, and Trump knew that. And the same sort of lawyers who will go along with those barely legal schemes, and we know that Donald Trump likes a lot of things that are barely legal, are the sorts of guys who would try their own barely legal, or even "it's only illegal if they catch you", schemes. That's the sort of guy Michael Cohen was, and Donald Trump knew it.

So, he almost certainly did not know the details of Mr. Cohen's tax evasion, but he knew that Cohen was the sort that would find a way to get around paying taxes by any means necessary.

What's happening right now is that there are a whole lot of people (i.e. Democrats) who have a very powerful incentive to look at everything The Donald has ever done and find somewhere that he stepped onto the wrong side of the line. I don't know whether or not they'll find one, or if they do, whether they will be able to turn that into impeachment, but they'll keep looking. So far, they don't have it, but they'll keep looking.

And even if they don't find that impeachable offense, in the course of it, what they will show is that Donald Trump wasn't exactly the sort of successful businessman he claimed to be. Instead, more of them will see that he's the sort of successful businessman whose success came out of screwing everyone he could, and throwing partners under the bus when they, like Michael Cohen, were not longer useful.

A lot of people think he's a good president, and in some cases, they have very strong arguments, but on a personal level, wouldn't you agree that this is one really bad hombre?

Answer honestly.
