I was listening to a live town hall meeting today from Ferguson. One of the speakers said MB did NOT steal the cigars. The altercation in the C store was because MB reached into the cashier area to get the cigars he wanted and the clerk got mad at him for doing so. I have no idea whether this is true or not but I'm just putting it out there.

Did they explain why Johnson didn't mention it?

CNN thinks some guy engaged in an "interesting" conversation inadvertently recorded the gunshots fired by Officer Wilson.

Quick version:

Sounds to me like 6+5. If that is the total rounds Wilson fired... he's gonna hang. Without video or defense eyewitnesses, it's too easy to picture all the worst of the accounts so far as matching that audio.

edit - sorry... that's if the audio is verified as legit.

I said that if Wilson was firing while Brown was fleeing, there would need to be way more than 6 shots. I got hammered for it...

However, no witness reported anywhere near 11 shots as far as I know.

I predict that this tape is not real, mainly due to the conversation recorded.
It sounds fake to me, and there is no remarking on the 11 loud gunshots.

I'm in a semi-rural white Oregon enclave. No bangers, not many murders, and at least several times a year I hear some fool rip a mag or two within a couple hundred yards. Never think anything of it.

IIRC, shots were fired while the police were on scene, too.

We don't hear the single round fired during the fight.

It's not true. Brown was actually reaching into the cashier area to point out the cancer-causing death sticks that the cashier was callously selling to Fergusonian youths. The cashier got mad at him because the the cashier was a paid shill for Big Tobacco.

Context is everything.

I just re-listened and think my first impression was correct, 6+4 as opposed to 6+5.

It sounds odd but I think that's more favorable to Wilson given a max of 1 out of 6 possibly from behind.

You don't suppose that maybe Brown doubled over in pain after having been shot several times? If you got shot, do you think you'd still be standing upright?

Steve S
Why would you "double over" if you were shot in the arm?

And regardless of the reason Brown was doubling over or surrendering, why keep shooting?

If Wilson was incompetent or in a rage, he still used excessive force.

FPD, MSHP and DOJ already know how many shots were fired. There's a reason Wilson hasn't been charged already -- we just haven't seen it yet. If there were he's gonna hang evidence, there would be a fistfight outside the St. Louis County courthouse to bring the information. The feds would win. Nixon would come in second. McCulloch would be the fall guy.

I once doubled over from the pain of getting salt in a shallow cut on my finger. To be fair, I was only a teenager at the time. I've never been shot in the arm, so I can't imagine what that experience must be like. Can you?

Clairvoyance, Perhaps you should go for the MDC challenge?

Gov. Nixon to aides:

Come on guys, I know when it's revealed that I shielded this damning evidence that it will piss off 100% of my black voters and about 90% of my white voters, it's going to make me look corrupt and incompetent in handling the riots and may lead to a federal civil rights indictment, but we have to look at the big picture of shielding a powerless, small municipal police force and some random guy whose been on patrol duty for the last 6 years....

Now who's with me?
