I don't believe in France, either."Have a nice day."
Much like "God bless you", when someone sneezes. In the UK if you think that in 2009 saying "Merry Christmas" has anything to do with a Christian holy festival of a similar name then you are in a minority.
Merry Christmas doesn't bother me. What I find annoying are the X-tains that claim that any saying besides Merry Christmas is trying to subvert the holiday. Like the gross commercialism hasn't already?
The counterpoint is, of course, if someone can be offended by a Happy Holidays, they need to be offended more often.Happy holydays sound like silly pc talk to me.
What is wrong with "god jul og godt nytår" ?
If somebody can be offended by a merry Christmas they need to be offended more often.
You just knew I was going to ask you Rand. What is a secular Christian? I googled it and if offered more questions than it answers.
I was living in North London one year when Diwali came around, and Diwaliist neighbours and shopkeepers took to wishing anybody on two legs 'Happy Diwali'. We Christians were having none of that ... 'don't you oppress me with your insensitive foisting of your religious values on me, no Sir!' and so on.
Well actually we didn't. We went along to the displays and then had a curry and went down the pub. Who cares.
I find your point offensive. The counterpoint is, of course, if someone can be offended by a Happy Holidays, they need to be offended more often.
