Melbourne Cup "Sure Thing"

Good Grief, they've retired the horse now.

Thats 2 out of 4.

Get Randi on the phone!
Gosh, that was not predictable either! Never mind that everyone from the strapper to Clarence the Clocker knew this would be her last race, because she is now worth millions more in the much safer practice of stud breeding...

Crumbs, even I predicted that the moment she crossed the line!

Sorry to labour a point, but I'm having a bit of fun here.

Today the paper published a reply, by a Tom Sheehan, basically scolding me for attacking the obvious miracles performed by the clairvoyant, in conjunction with the universe.

I have composed the following, with the intention of replying:

In reply to Tom Sheehan, (The Advocate 8/12/05),firstly neither myself nor Jarrod made any personal attack on anybody, and no malice was intended. Everybody is free to believe as they wish, and I respect that, but, facts are facts. As to the prediction re:John Howard, consider this: He is 60+, and in a stressfull job.I would think the probability of him NOT suffering any ill health soon is tiny. Also,”in the new year”….err where is the cut off point? February? Why do psychics, clairvoyants etc. only concern themselves with popular personalities and trivia? Not one predicted 9/11,Bali,Katrina, the tsunami, things that the universe must have given somebody a hint about.Lives could have been saved. Yes, I am a doubting Thomas.Naughty me for thinking critically, and using my brain for it’s intended purpose. The world is an amazing place, and when we see concrete evidence of such things, and the laws of physics and thermodynamics are changed forever, my world will be even more amazing. Until then ,I prefer reality.

Any comments, criticisms, advice?

Cheers

Not bad, Morris, though I, personally do not respect those who "believe as they wish".

Also I'm not too sure I'd back any odds on Howard suffering ill health in the new year (even if that includes the whole of the new year). In fact, he is 65+, but he is so experienced at his job that he actually seems to enjoy it! And he goes for a power walk every day! The odds of him still being there at the next election (as opposed to retiring before then) are probably greater.

:(

True, but there are'nt many that age with perfect health, things can flare up at random.
And remember, the press will blow any ailment out of proportion.

"John Howard struck down with an ingrown toenail!"

"Prime minister's Pile dilemma", next on A Current Affair.

What is bad health?

Anyway, I am enjoying yanking their chain at the moment.

monsieur cod -

I can only see 'highlights' at the Advertiser web site.
Is there a link to the 'letters' or do I have to buy the paper to read them?

You might ask why if she has such a gift she is not donating her massive winnings to charity.

El Flange-

Being the high quality rag that it is,you don't seem to be able to access the letters for some reason. all I can do is manually quote which is a bit of a pain.

Is there no end...

Well, time has passed, Nicole Kidman HAS married a non Australian....mind you, anyone who could read a tabloid could have worked that out last year,But now, she's at it again.Published in our wonderful rag Saturday the 24th...

Win Prediction.
The Socceroos will beat Italy in Tuesday's clash, but will lose one of their stars to a leg injury.
Devonport clairvoyant Stephanie Handley has been spot on with her World Cup predictions so far, having foretold a Socceroo victory against Japan, a loss to Brazil and then qualification for the second round against Croatia.
"They will win (against Italy) by two goals" she said.
"But one of them will go down with a knee injury or a leg injury."
Ms. Handley, a self confessed soccer novice, said she could not see which team member would be struck down by the injury though.
When asked about the Socceroos' chances to take out the world cup final MS Handley replied:
"I hear that they will go all the way (to the final)......but I don't feel that they will win.

Well,that was accurate was'nt it.

I am hanging on to this, along with all the other plugs our paper has given her,as I intend to publish her score in the paper. She also said that John Howard,(a man in his 60's) would suffer health problems....(what are the chances of that!!???!!)

Hey now... maybe the Socceroos will make a...um...comeback...?

Now *that* would convince me of her awesome powers.

Stunning Detail! The spirits are on top form!

The Spirits lose interest and wander off, muttering vaguely over their shoulders.

Our Steph is keen on the Obvious Hits - see how she reckons that one of the footballers will suffer some sort of leg injury?
