What is known about this hormone/suppliment?

I have been having a hard time sleeping lately, so on the advice of a friend, I picked up a bottle of it (3mg).

I have used it the last 3 nights, and it has worked VERY well. I was out like a light within 10 minutes (never happens with me), and woke up refreshed, unlike the groggy, hungover feeling one gets from otc or perscription sleep aids.

Is it safe? Does it work like that for most people? side effects? I know it is a strong anti-oxidant, but what else can I derive from that?

Actually, it's great. I use it mostly when I travel, trying to defeat jetlag and get myself onto the right time schedule. The more you take it, the less effective (tolerance), so try not to use it too much, only when you really need it, then it will always work for you. It's a naturally occuring chemical in your body, and as far as I know it is safe used in moderation.

Yes, it's very safe. But the optimal dosage is on the order of .300mg, so try using just a piece of a tablet instead of a whole one.

only .3mg? Eck! These are 3mg's.

Well, I had a great night's sleep the last couple nights. I am glad I finally found somethign that works.

What about its other purported benefits? Anti-oxidant, anti-aging, increased libido, anti-depressant, etc?

Woo-woo, or is there ANY fact to it?

IIRC, melatonin is secreted by the pineal gland and is at higher levels when it gets dark, causing us to get sleepy.

So it does seem to make us sleepy. Anything beyond that is getting into woo territory.

Here's a little blurb about the pineal gland:

Gas, are you saying this authoritatively? Or are you just guessing that every positive effect claimed, aside from sleep inducement, is "Woo"?
