Media Matters

I'm almost on board with your statement about journalistic ethics, but 1) I'm not sure what the ethics actually are for that and 2) if a Republican incriminated himself in this way, I wouldn't throw a fit if CNN ran it.

Given some time, I am getting less upset about FoxNews reporting what she said without fact checking. Dangerous, but she only has herself to blame so to speak.

Don't you find it odd that FoxNews only seems to make that mistake in "one direction"?;)

You don't know that. And why don't you know that? Because Media Matters wouldn't report on it if FoxNews mistakenly identified a scandal-plagued Democrat as a Republican.

Erm, the point of their story is that FOXNEWS makes this error in assigning party membership and it is only one way.

How do you know that? Can you confirm that there have been no instances of the error being made the other way? You assume that is so, but Media Matters does not say that. They allow lazy people to make that assumption.

So they pointed out numerous instances of FOXNEWS making this error. What does the fact that nj.com making an error have to do with FOXNEWS habitually making their error? Nice try at misdirection, though. :)

Whoosh!

You are correct.

Surely as a skeptic and logical thinker you can see the error of your suggestion here. I think it is your responsibility to show me an error being made the other way, not my responsibility to show they have not made an error the other way. I mean, the only way for me to prove that they have never made an error the other way would be for me to watch every single minute of FoxNews programming since their inception. See, I can't prove a negative, my friend.

Sorry, the onus is on you. Perhaps they exist but I have never heard about one and I do frequent conservative sites that might mention it.

Whoosh!
There was a Democrat who was caught with a stack of money in his freezer. Maybe he was identified as a Republican?

They spent about a zillion years recently on the funeral of Ted Kennedy. Maybe he was identified as a Republican once as Fox was vilifying him?

Why don't other news sites like ABC and CBS have these problems? Is there any truth in the charge that they're just plain more competent then Fox? The explanation seems likely, given your evidence.

Oh, I know, conspiracy! Is it that the combined internet conservative community doesn't have the brain cells of Media Matters? I'd buy that too

Some more sterling reportage from Media Muttheads:

Limbaugh to NYTimes environment reporter Revkin: "Why don't you just go kill yourself"

And here's what Rush said:

Rush Limbaugh said:
The environmentalist wackos are the same way. This guy from The New York Times, if he really thinks that humanity is destroying the planet, humanity is destroying the climate, that human beings in their natural existence are going to cause the extinction of life on Earth -- Andrew Revkin. Mr. Revkin, why don't you just go kill yourself and help the planet by dying?

Clearly he's doing a reductio ad absurdum argument. But no kidding a whole bunch of nutroots bloggers are up in arms over the quote.

Yeah, that's what your link to Media Matters says he said. They have accurately quoted him and provided the complete context. Did you have a point?

Ya I dont see your point Brainster. Are you saying the headline should have included the entire paragraph of Rush?

You do understand headlines need to be pithy, right?

Hey, Bill Hicks said the same thing:

People pay lip service to saving the planet, but they don’t – they fail to make the big leap that if you want to save the planet, kill your effing self. The planet will be saved without you. And what a delightful place it’ll be.

Perhaps Media Matters could report on that?

It's so amusing that you cry and moan when someone changes your ironic little name, but you have so little problem doing it to someone else.

Then again, the right wing and its representatives on this forum are hardly strangers to hypocrisy, so why does this not surprise me?
