So were a few thousand other people on the USS Forrestal (aka with a wry grin the "USS Forest Fire" to Naval Aviation sorts who have seen that film, again and again, at fire fighting training and safety training.)

It's not the critic who counts, douchebag. (Since you wish to get down into name calling.) Fact is, for whatever other merits Senator McCain has, or earned, he is certainly making a mess of his second profession, which is politics.

As a Senator, he's had his good days, and his bad days, and he seems to be adding to the latter everytime he opens his mouth lately.

So there where a few thousand people with in a short distance of the event? He was one of the closest individuals.

What the hell crawled up your butt?

I was trying to point out that he had the rather remarkable luck(bad in this case) to be at the heart of one of the most notable accidents on board on aircraft carrier, and if I am remembering correctly(your link does not go into all that much detail) it was his plane that the rocket struck.

So it is kind of like going to a restaurant and there being a fire at your table and claiming that you are not involved in it. Of course you are. But then I never said responsible, I only said involved.

So in DR's world anytime anyone gets rear-ended it is their fault as they are involved in the accident. Being uninvolved is the only way to resolve the culpability.

PT, you have cried wolf one too many times, so I don't believe much of anything you say, or post. You have played the passive aggressive, deliberately obtuse card once too often. I saw the game afoot yet again, so made a move to nip it in the bud. My purpose is achieved, that line is DOA in this thread. That you and ID are wasting your time on me may have entertainment value to the rest of the players, or not.

On the outside chance that you are telling the truth, fine. I provided you some detail to flesh out your understanding of the Forrestal fire.

But then, when he was young, everyone was still reproducing asexually by dividing their single-celled bodies in the primordial soup. I ain't saying he's old....just that when God said "Let there be light!", Old Man McCain shouted at him to keep it down, he was trying to take a nap before dinner at 4:30.

ANd oddly there are very few people named in the report by name, and he is one of them. This does give the impression that he was more involved than the average member of the crew.

But then again I have learned that when you get caught in an error, your general responce is to insult the person who caught you and leave in a huff.
