Actually the animals would be eating us and living in the caves while the philosophers were analyzing the qualia of the experience and the mystics were seeking to communicate with their inner spirit to find out the deeper meaning of the event.

I find it amusing that punshhh is using the fruits of science to tell us how useless science is. If it wasn't for science I would have dental surgery without anaesthetics. I would have died of peritonitis fifteen years ago. They operated just in time and I am glad that the surgeon was not a mystic. He would had me put some chicken bones under my pillow and dance round a stone circle widdershins at midnight,calling on the unknown uknowns beyond the event horizon of the formless to come to my assistance.

Ha! Philosophers invented science and scientists so they could sit back and chillax. Is there any other degreed discipline where drinking beer all night is considered a research methodology?

I see nothing in science or materialism which conflicts with my thinking.

My mysticism is in relation to existence itself and personal existence. It has little to do with how matter behaves. The physical world and the related sciences are a useful tool in understanding the nature of existence.

Luckily, science is not all there is.
In addition to the whats and the hows we have to have some whys also.
Science is not very strong in the human whys.
