Mass shooting at Bondi Beach

For me, a major tell is that the people who say they're talking about Israel, not Jews, are also not talking about Hamas.
Here's a hint: Talking about Israel is not the same as talking about Jews, and talking about Hamas is not the same as talking about Palestinians.

You missed my point, which is that over and over again we see the same pattern: People demanding that Israel* shoulder the burden of Hamas's moral failures. We saw the same pattern here in this thread. Islamofascist terrorists commit mass murder of Jews in Australia, and the first thing some Australians do is try to blame Israel* for instigating the violence. It's always this one-way street: All terrorist roads lead directly to Tel Aviv. Never to Gaza. Never to Tehran.

*Coincidentally the Jewish homeland.

Has anybody in this thread or any other said that Hamas or Hezbollah weren't terrorists?
Lots of people pay lip service to the idea that terrorism is bad, especially when called out on the subject. But we know it's lip service because all of their rhetoric focuses on the perfidy of the victims of terrorism, or the supposed "instigators" of terrorism.

For example, your first contribution to this thread:

What do you think made these two clearly antisemitic people decide to pick up their guns and shoot up a Chanukah festival?

This particular attack absolutely is unique. Nothing on this level has been seen before. Why did they do it? Why did they do it here and why did they do it now? I suspect that we'll never get definitive answers to these questions, but I speculate that it could be retaliation for Israel's actions in Gaza. I have no proof of this, but it would not surprise me if it were true.
Nowhere do you speculate that it could be ISIS indoctrination or Iranian propaganda that "made" these two people carry out a terrorist attack. Your knee-jerk reaction is to speculate that terrorism starts with Israel. Does it ever even cross your mind that Israel might *not* be the root cause of terrorism in the world? Because your rhetoric on this forum suggests that it doesn't.

Again you are stuck in time, and ignoring the possibility that my thoughts, opinions, and speculations might have changed.

Since the beginning of this thread? I suppose we'll see.

But why would they have changed? Was there something wrong with your inclination to paint Israel as the instigator of anti-semitic terrorism?

Someone is in court for stealing a camera from a photographer who was shot and killed on Bondi Beach. Meanwhile the Syrian/Australian guy who grabbed a gun from one of the attackers and was then shot by the other one, and was then given $2.5million in a fundraiser for his heroism, has had to move house after his two brothers moved to Australia and threatened violence against him if he didn't get them some of the money.

It's not showing Australia at its best.

Yep sure doesn’t. I bet your relieved that nobody has brothers who are arseholes where you live eh?

Not so sure about that. The report said the two brothers recently arrived here, meaning they are almost certainly on tourism visas. I don’t think Australia can or should be accountable for tourists.

If they overstay that visa and Australia doesn't kick them out, then I think they become partially responsible.

Australian tourist visas last a minimum of 3 months, but more likely 12 months. Anyway, we do not have ICE officers infesting Australian streets arresting people with different accents. In an Australian context we are not accountable for the behaviour of tourists.

Which is part of why I said if. My statement is conditional. Those conditions might never be met, and I am not making any claims about whether they ever will be, only that it is possible.

If Australia chooses not to deport people who overstay their visas, that choice doesn't absolve the government of responsibility. Quite the reverse. Visas have time limits for a reason, and the failure to enforce your own rules isn't some virtue.
