Mary Trump's Book

What inheritance?

Trump pissed that away the moment he got it.

No Fred Trump sr. cut the kids of Fred Trump Jr out of the bulk of an equitable inheritence. So it would be the inheritence from Don's father.

But as a family so heavily knowledgeable about the value of good breeding why waste money on the spawn of some worthless drunk?

I know. But that 50 years ago. Frankly, if Trump was actually a genius I wouldn't care. I know the system works for wealthy. The frat a close friend of mine attended, that stuff was status quo. The rich kids would party and schmooze and then pay the smart kids at the frat to do their work for them.
When I was a student at college in Golden Colorado a friend was always taking tests for kids at Boulder. He eventually flunked out while he was acing tests for others.

Aparently near the end of his life Fred -- likely at Donald's instigation -- cut Fred Jr.'s family out by moviing most of his assets into trusts to shield them from probate so only a small percentage could be divided among his children, then explicitly cut Fred Jr.'s children out completely. Mary has said she didn't find out how badly her family had been cheated until she was conducting research for her book.
When Donald Trump’s father, Fred Sr., died in 1999, the roughly $20 million inheritance was divided up among his children and their descendants, “other than my son Fred C. Trump Jr.,” according to the Times.

Donald Trump had helped draft the will. At the time, Freddy Trump’s children sued, claiming Donald Trump and his siblings had used “undue influence” over their grandfather, who had dementia.

Donald retaliated by withdrawing the medical benefits he had promised to his nephew’s infant son, who suffered from seizures that led to cerebral palsy, according to the Times.

Yep thought that was fairly common knowledge.

This man has no soul, literal or metaphorical.

Perhaps the least surprising is that Trump once complimented Mary's boobs.

Crazy. Some people just can't take a compliment.

ETA: And he gave her a chance with a ghost-writing project, probably after she "begged" like Bolton. Trump's generous, but others are ungrateful.

People often take alcoholIcs and drug addicts out of their wills.

Well it makes sense that the Fred jr wasn't in the will he was dead before his father, and like all proper households the sins of the father are passed onto his children

Whether or not that's generally true, the fact here is that the will was re-written after Fred Jr. died to cut his wife and children out of the estate. Pure malice.

Any indication that this book is moving the needle on public perception of Trump?

Seems like catnip for people who already take a dim view of the man, and something easily ignored by his supporters.

Sorry my misunderstanding. Even if the son was still alive I would have advised a generation skipping trust for those grandchildren.

Trump had plenty of lawyers. The results are no accident. It's clear that Fred Sr. and Donald wanted to screw over Fred Jr.'s family.

Not necessarily. A lot of people with drug/alchohol abuse problems have supportive families and still commit suicide. However, Fred Jr. did not commit suicide. He'd died from a heart attack.
