That's our cover. We are really mild mannered pig farmers. We have fun by letting idiots believe the protocols and blood libel and letting the whole family watch the ensuing comedy.

Canadian law is very similar to British law. I'm sure LashL would know the intricacies related to this.

You're right, SilverShadow, that Canadian law is very similar to British law in many ways, and to a certain extent and in certain areas of law, English case law is considered persuasive authority - but not binding authority - in Canadian courts.

However, there are many differences in various areas of law between the two countries as well, and one of them happens to be in the area of libel law. Canadian libel law is fairly closely aligned with English libel law, but English libel law is more plaintiff-friendly than Canadian libel law, and Canadian libel law is, in turn, more plaintiff-friendly than U.S. libel law.

I've previously posted some of the basics of Canadian libel law in a thread about the Loose With the Truth video. See, for instance, here, here, and here.

When content is posted on the internet, a person may choose to sue in a country where the libellous content has been viewed, rather than the country in which the plaintiff resides or where the plaintiff himself viewed it, so as to take advantage of the more plaintiff-friendly libel laws of the other country. (If memory serves, the seminal case that made this change as a result of the internet was a 2002 Australian case of Dow Jones v. Gutnick as it redefined the essential element of "publication" from referring to where the content was uploaded to including where the content was downloaded - thanks Aussies!)

That's why people often choose to sue in England for libellous content on the internet, even though they live elsewhere and even though they may never have personally been to England before.

That said, I doubt that Gravy would go to the bother in this particular instance with the Looser cretin's silly little myspace page. While the page may qualify as libellous of him, odds are that the Looser behind it still lives with his parents and has no assets to satisfy any eventual judgment.

Thanks for that - certainly helps my understanding of matters. It's funny - I actually remember the Dow Jones v. Gutnick case from back then. Probably because he owed my dad money at the time (dang mining companies going bust!).

I'll probably get banned from LCF after this little outburst:
I'm just confused as to how this is insulting anyone or how it is funny.

It is libellous in the sense that it is lying about Mark Roberts the NY Tour Guide and JREF poster.

Personally I'd be surprised if Gravy sues you, but just how does this site actually refute anything Gravy has ever said?

What's that? It doesn't? So what's the point?

Oh right, he's a big poof!

Pretty high standard of debate there Mr Chit. No wonder people are flocking to the Truth movement with intellectuals like you providing such a shining example.

Disinfo, gotta be MI6 I reckon. Otherwise Becks would have shut down your other site. So all this stuff proves is that you are out to discredit the Truthers.

Keep it up Jack!

Just a little post script to that post of mine: I haven't been banned, but that post mysteriously disappeared from Jack Chit's thread. I guess he didn't want me blowing his sooper sekret agent cover. Just pathetic.

This is ridiculous...Jackchit has now started a thread which is all about insulting me...

Last night I was having an exchange with mobyseven who is upset because of the MRGS page on myspace.
The dispute was about the law and his total ignorance of English Law.
This is a post he made at J-ref.

QUOTE My Legal Methods and Reasoning lecturer said that she thought 'British law' would probably not be the best term to use - not necessarily incorrect, but not the best term considering that Scotland has a seperate parliament and judiciary to England and Wales (although the guy over there does think that England and Wales operate under different systems).

I did however think there were laws that applied to the whole of the UK that could be deemed British Commonwealth law (as the formal title for the UK is still "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland" - unless the formal title changed and I was unaware of it?).

Even though this thread seems to have disappeared (I also have some screenshots up to my last post, but if you could PM me to get my email, and send me yours that would be good - I didn't get the whole post in my shots ) - can someone here who has a knowledge of UK legal systems help me out?

So mobyseven needs help to debate an immature 7th grader as I have been portrayed in the rest of that thread, its a wonder he can find his ass with both hands.

Now leave me alone I'm trying to write the next installment of the adventures of everyones favourite homosexual agent and his trusty sidekick oh oh mobyseven

Plus more. He then cherry-picks a quote from page two of this thread to make it look like we're threatening him physically:

Whenever you're ready Pete Weaver.... *folds arms in expectation*
Lets see if any of you are more than words.

For those of you who can't be bothered checking up on that one, there was one more word in the original post: "joke".

This guy is unbelievable...

And now I've made it into the MRGS MySpace blog, under the creative name, "Dopeyseven".

This guy is beyond belief...

The people have spoken! Our friend jackchit has decided to have a referendum on his little Gravy bashing Myspace page.

So I'm putting it to the vote, please leave reasons for your vote as well.
Much Obliged.

should I delete the MRGS myspace page?

Yes delete it [ 50 ] [74.63%]
No it should stay [ 17 ] [25.37%]

Total Votes: 67

That sure blew up in his face! The polls over there lately have been very, very interesting to say the least. Either there is hope for the Loosers after all, or we have waaaay too many covert operatives over there.

I know what you mean, but I don't think it's anything to do with covert agents.

It appears to me that the 'truthers' are actually becoming a little more rational (well, some of them are) as witnessed by the way some of the hardcore 'truthers' have actually used some critical thinking skills in debunking lyte mercs flyover and killklowns fantasies.

Obviously not all are moving in that direction, but it's fascinating to read some of the contrary posts which regs at LCF have been putting up recently. It's still frustrating because you want to scream "OK! Fantastic! Now apply the same reasoning to NORAD, WTC7, dead 'alive' hijackers, controlled demolition and all the other fallacies of your movement"

Of course they wont, but they might start to understand just why people here get pissed at the 'truthers' who ignore facts and reason and carry on posting their delusional fantasies.

AAAAARGH!!! Do you understand what you've done? Jackchit just posted that your comment is proof that people at JREF are heading over to LC, creating dummy accounts and rigging the polls...

*sobs quietly, rocking back and forth*

Well, on the bright side, he still doesn't know about the bugs. Hmmm...A majority of votes for 'delete it,' and he's not going to. You know, for a group of people who think a secret organization subvert democracy...

Well, I voted for it to stay, since it emphasizes how immature childish irrational and spiteful that the truthers are. I also knew that however the vote turned out they would keep the site. If it turned out people liked it, he would take it as vindication of his efforts. If the vote turned out against him, he would assume it was a COINTEL effort (since the USG cares about his homophobic crap) and keep the site up anyway.

I'm going to deflect attention away from this blog by starting up 'Mark Roberts - Goat Abusing Satanic Belly Dancer'.

To my knowledge, Gravy has never explicitly denied interfering with goats or worshiping the fallen angel Lucifer. I admit that he has stated he doesn't belly dance, but my explosive video will prove otherwise.
