Drudge Report, NY Times and Politico are reporting that Newt Gingrich's ex-wife Marianne Gingrich interviewed with ABC news which they will play tomorrow night:

Drudge has the quote: "Marianne Gingrich has said she could end her ex-husband's career with a single interview." What do you think she will say???

Hmmm, why speculate on what she might say when we can just wait a little while longer and find what she actually said? ;)

My prediction is that she will be branded a liar no matter what she says.

Not so sure about that. The candidates seem to be enjoying themselves having at each other. I wouldn't be surprised to see the campaigns of the other Republicans capitalize on some of her juicier disclosures.

They played a small clip of the interview on the news today. Apparently, Newt asked her to have an open relationship when she found out he was seeing his current wife Callista on the side.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle:

Newt Gingrich asked for an "open marriage" amid an affair with former House aide and current wife, Callista Gingrich, according to an interview with his second wife, Marianne Gingrich, that is to be aired on ABC News tonight.

Gingrich asked if she would share him with Callista, she said in the interview. "And I just stared at him and he said, 'Callista doesn't care what I do,'" Marianne Gingrich said in her first televised interview since their 1999 divorce. "He wanted an open marriage and I refused."

...

In the interview with ABC's Brian Ross to air tonight on "Nightline," Marianne Gingrich said her former husband lacks the moral character to be president and his campaign positions on family values and marriage don't reflect his personal behavior, according to excerpts of the interview released by ABC.

She said her then-husband's affair took place while Gingrich was leading the House impeachment proceedings against former President Bill Clinton, which were prompted by news reports about the president's affair with former White House intern Monica Lewinsky.

...

Marianne Gingrich described her "shock" at Gingrich's behavior, including learning that he conducted his affair "in my bedroom in our apartment in Washington," according to the excerpts.

"He always called me at night," she said, "and always ended with 'I love you.' Well, she was listening."

Marianne Ginther Gingrich and the Republican presidential hopeful began dating while Gingrich was still married to his first wife, Jackie Battley Gingrich. They were married about six months after his first divorce in 1981.

If the "open marriage" thing is the worst they've got, then Newtie is going to skate right by this one. His Christianist supporters are already on record as not caring about his family values.

and the right wing forums that I read for laughs are already wondering how much Obama has paid her for this revelation.

One has to wonder if the theme song of the Newt Campaign will be that Oliva Newton John song Physical since it has such appropriate lyrics for him.

;)

I have to wonder if he was OK with her sleeping with other men, or if the "open" marriage was only for him.

The infidelity is the reason Newt has lost the nomination.

I thought it was because he was a callous prick out of touch with most people.

I hear people refer to New Gingrich as "smart" all the time. I really don't see any evidence in his past.

Glib, sly, wily, maybe. But smart, no.

So he's a hypocrite. Either at that time or in anything he says now to deny what his then wife says about his past activities.

Surprised? Me? No? :hit:
