March Stundie Nominations

Your MIL must be related to mine.

I am a firemedic/firefighting instructor, and my MIL asked me years ago to quit my job, and do something else, because it's dangerous.

She said basically the same thing to me!

What's so ironic is my late FIL (Her husband) was........a police officer.

Wanting someone to quit a dangerous job is rational and understandable, albeit selfish (at least in your case). Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the job-related death rate for firefighters 3-4 times that for police officers, even if we exclude the September 11 attacks?

Yes, understandable.

I don't know the actual statistics, but that sounds right.

I was mearly relating to the poster that MIL's can be quite....amusing.

Not to derail too much, but her father and her FIL were coal miners. In the 20's.

Doesn't count since it was a verbal exchange, but I just thought I'd add it for the lulz.

My mother in law has been rather intrusive throughout my wife's pregnancy, today she offered us $3,000 IF we stop with the "show biz" stuff ( I'm an actor, she's a costume designer ) & "get real jobs".
Real job examples included, working in a factory, working in a restaurant, & getting a job at one of Vermont's many dairy farms.

For clarification, I asked "So... you want us to give up what we went to school for, have been doing successfully for several years now, take a rather large pay cut ensuring that we both have to work full time, thus giving us less time to care for our son.... for his benefit?"

Her reply (& stundie-esque example)
"Yes! Its normal work! & I would've thought since you had a child now you wouldn't do something so immature as to say my own words out loud so they would sound stupid!"

So how are you spending the $3000?
