March Stundie Nominations

Yep, and I believe this is literally so. I have no doubt he is stundying on purpose. Kinda beats the fun out of it. Obvious troll is obvious.
His posts do very much have the ring of a Poe about them. That was why I hesitated over nominating his WFC suggestion in the first place.

For the same reason, I hesitated over this one. However, hesitation is not the same as forbearance...

A conspiracy theory that is so extreme it's silly is the idea that all nuclear power plants are in reality water fuel cell plants. The mere idea is ridiculous. One question is: would such monstrous conspiracy be even remotely possible in practice? The answer is: yes.

Conservation of energy be damned, there's no practical difference between a battery and a generator.

I hereby withdraw my nomination of Anders for a Stundie. He is now going on about how AIDS is a hoax; just a few minutes after a thread on Aids Denial went up here. He is a Troll, folks.

Does this count? It made my jaw drop..

Not defending anybody, but I read that cancer rates among Hiroshima and Nagasaki survivors is actually lower than that of the average Japanese population. There’s a lot that people don’t know.

For an interesting study see this paper. If I read the charts correctly, incidences of cancer among the survivors tends to be significantly higher than in the control group.

You do read those charts correctly, even though not all cancer sites show significant increase for both sexes and all age groups (sometimes, the 95% confidence interval includes 0, some values for some age groups are insignificantly negative, while many are significantly positive).
There is not a single data point that would indicate a significant decrease of cancer risk for exposed people.

Agreed re Anders, doesn't deserve any Stundies.

He/She seems to operate on the simple principle of wait for a response to 'a wild speculation' on his/her part, look up some background in Wikepedia, YouTube or whatever, find a fundamental tenet of the accepted view then post that it doesn't feel or can't be right.

Anders could just be a clever computer programme or, more likely, just someone with nothing better to do than troll for kicks and waste everyone's time.

That... how... I... what? I have no clue what point he thinks he's making.

ON THE REMOVAL OF CATS EYES IN THE ROAD

:D

It gets better, a later posting:

Message to everyone!!

Just took a drive back along the by-pass and cats-eyes are reflecting perfectly.
However, i was not the only person that witnessed this and the passenger in my car verified that the cats eyes where not reflecting first time round.
I can only assume it is because cats-eyes require a certain level of pitch blackness before they will reflect and although it WAS dark enough for headlights it was obviously not dark enough for reflection.
In reflection i have just made a complete FOOL of myself. I have a Police car, two journalists and a radio DJ all vowing to take a drive along the city by-pass to check out the dud cats-eyes that where removed overnight by authorities, and what they will find is nice shining bright cats-eyes that light the way perfectly.

I am glad someone has told me I can't drive without streetlights or catseyes. All the little country roads round here are too narrow to qualify for a centre line or catseyes and the locals seem to manage to drive OK.

what a load of old cock, turn your lights off, what they mean is send out a signal to space and tell them who is watching we got your message and come on down the price is right as we are all brain washed!

Interesting video. I've noticed the sun's been significantly brighter since last year. There's no doubt that there's a brighter solar object in our skies of late. Even tonight the Moon is not quite full, yet so bright and reflective it's almost painful to focus on it for long. (Or maybe that's because I looked at the sun the other day just to get a quick glimpse. Yes, I regret it. )

We're powerless against the sun as it is.

Do you dispute the sun is brighter in the sky? It's not yellow anymore, that's for sure.

Sunrises and sunsets are much briefer now, anybody else notice that? Doing yardwork, sunglasses don't cut it anymore. Got to hold up a hand to deflect the sun. Try looking at a sunset these days... yes I know it's not a good idea. This has got to affect pilots. Wonder what they're thinking?

I don't believe the Oort cloud random generator is built into the astronomy computer programs, so I dismiss those. Something is going on. Doesn't anybody remember the day in the mid 1990s that science said a comet was coming and the next day they said "Nahh, we were wrong"?

Heh. The funny this is, that was a rather keen observation on his part. Judging by the rest of that post, I'm assuming that he was completely ignorant of the "supermoon". It seemed noticebly brighter to me on the 19th—although that may have been out of mere expectation on my part—but it certainly wasn't painful to look at.

Someone should install some really bright lights on the front of cars so that we can see the road when we drive...... :D
