Man Love Thursdays

I just got through with the 03-13-2012 episode of the Adam Carolla Podcast and the guest was Capt. Sean Parnell who served 4 or 5 tours in Afghanistan. He had some amazing stories and one of them had to do with afghan men celebrating something called "Man Love Thursdays" which i couldnt believe. Apparently, the men/women in Afghanistan can only have sex if it's to have babies, so once a week all the men get together on Thursdays for some "business time"

Any military peeps on the JREF able to confirm this one? Or Afghani men?

Evidently the "use" of young boys in Afghan society is widely accepted as well, for much the same reasons.

I saw an interview a few years ago with an Afghan man who said that given that he couldn't even look at any women due to the burkas, much less have sex with one without marrying, the boys were his only avenue. The journalist then interviewed the boy who was with this man and the boy said that he hoped to grow up one day and be able to afford a boy of his own...

A mililtary friend who came back from Afghanistan said that at first he thought it was really great how the "grandfathers" took care of their "grandsons", taking them everywhere with them, etc. He thought it was a tight family bonding until he was enlightened and then it was hard for him not to try to rescue every boy he saw, but that it was the cultural norm there and the soldiers weren't to interfere.

This is crazy! I think Yon said it best:

I'm shocked right now! Regardless of your culture, this is never acceptable behavior. I hate to be so harsh, but we need to get the eff outta that backwards garbage dump of a country ASAP! Now im pissed that we've been dumping money into these places and paying these soldiers so they can buy little boys! That even sounds crazy to say!
