Exactly, thank you for noticing.subgenius said:Shoot, this is the definition of news. (You've heard of, and obliquely refer to "Man bites dog.")
Are you saying that because no "news outfit could ignore it" makes it news?Explain to me how this would not be news, or why, and how any news outfit could ignore it...
This is not the subject of my question about the news value of this story. The fact that something is embarrassing or critical or negative does not remove any news value....unless no criticism, or negative publicity of any kind, even of his own making can be generated about this particular human being.

What makes it news? Is the only newsworthy aspect of it the embarrassing nature of it?
If there is no potential for embarrassment then of what human interest is there? It's funny because there is a component of embarrassment. If the dog fell from an inanimate object would it be news?subgenius said:Human interest.
Just trying to avoid an unnecessary argument.RandFan said:If there is no potential for embarrassment then of what human interest is there? It's funny because there is a component of embarrassment. If the dog fell from an inanimate object would it be news?

Not sure why we're looking for "issues."
You asked :
"Is the only newsworthy aspect of it the embarrassing nature of it?"
Now you say "a component".
I'm not disagreeing.
Shoot, I don't know what makes news news.RandFan said:Hey sub,
I was just curious. Not a problem.
It's market driven you are right. I don't think it is news but I guess news is in the eyes of the ratings.subgenius said:

Whatever sells papers I guess. Whatever piques the interest of humans.
J-Lo and Ben, I don't care, but a lot of other people apparently do. Why? Dunno. I'm no genius (obviously).
