Making Elections Profitable

But then we'd have to provide them with benefits. Could have been what held back Dixie's economy.

Heh.

But seriously, I've heard very few reasonably objections thus far.

The more debate I read against it (what little there is so far) the more I like it.

This prop puts the very-much failed (as all knew it would) McCain-Feingold in complete context.

Can't beat 'em, join 'em. Let the states get in on the action.

I figure

each off-year House election will yeild at least $10m per state. Double that for on-year elections.

each off-year Senate election will yeild at least $100m per state. Double that for on-year elections.

I can't really hazard a guess but (I will) guess that each Pres election will yeild at least $500m (fewer candidates allowed but each invited to all debates).

Okay...so I just started the ball rolling with an e-bay style auction type bid. There are several variations of that. What would yeild the most profit?

Come on. Embrase your patriotic capitalistic instinct. Do it for your country. Better the idea.

Does that mean you support an ever increasing amount of corporate welfare and tax-breaks for the rich? Since that will be the inevitable result of "investements" in politicians who support such policies.

And how do you feel about universal suffrage? Since your proposal will have the effect of increasing a voter's weight according to his income.

We should also tie pay to performance. For example, presidential pay packages could be tied to keeping inflation low and GDP growth high.
I like it! How about each candidate giving a program of goals, together with the amount of pay he'll receive for meeting them? For example, vote for candidate A who promises to increase GDP and receives $ 100 million for each percentage point increase. Or vote for candidate B, who promises to capture Bin Laden for a one time bonus of $ 50 million, and $ 100 million for each percentage point of average real income increase.

Letting people buy multiple cycles in advance. Time value of money.

See! Now THAT's what I'm talkin' about. There's profit galore here.

Dave, If I'm getting you right...
Presidental Options
Senate Options
House Options
Etc

My golly, this scheme alone could triple the take.
