Major explosion in downtown Nashville

I wonder why the RV license plate didn't lead directly to perpetrator. The guy had the RV for many years.

Unlicensed? Fake plates? No plates?

If the pates weren't readable from the camera footage, it's likely not enough of them remain to be useful, and finding the pieces will be very difficult among all the other debris.

I just looked at some photos of the scene and saw that bizarre building that looks like an owl - was easy to locate it. It's also called the "batman building", and it is the AT&T headquarter in question:

Plate or no plate the VIN number is usually recoverable in these kinds of exposures. They went to the address really fast.

Good photos. Those show far more destruction than what pictures from other news agencies showed.

This was a big bomb.
I'm skeptical those are images of this bomb. I'll keep an open mind but none of the street images of debris from above look anything like that.

So, close but not exactly close as in the RV was parked right next to it as if it were a target. It's kind of "round the corner" close. Seems like almost a fluke that building got damaged by this bomb at all.

In this shot, you can see the buildings with the missing facades on the left, and in the street on the right you can see the pile of scattered brown beams that are in the foreground of one of the street-level images I linked.

On google maps it says from the "Hooters" to what apparently is the hugely damaged building "temporarily closed". The latter seems to be the "Old Spaghetti Factory" which optimistically says on its website:

This location is TEMPORARILY closed for repairs. Due to the recent structural and property damage made to our restaurant from the downtown explosion on December 25th 2020, we are temporarily closed until further notice.

From the pictures I've seen it looks like the explosion actually happened on the other side of the street, and that would be at the foot of the large red brick building you can see to the right at the street view I posted in #225. That is marked "Bell South Mobile phone company". I don't know details about the connection between AT&T and Bell South, but maybe that's the alleged data center?

Shots were reported, which called in the cops. The cops came and found the RV broadcasting a message about the bomb.

The responding cops would have got the license plate number. Before the explosion.

VIN can only maybe be found after sifting through all the debris.

Cops did not go to the address really fast. It was about a day and a half later.

AT&T owns Bell South. That is the AT&T building.

Here is the picture that made me find the scene:

It's definitely the same event as on Checkmite's picture. We see the back of the alley with the Hooters and Spaghetti place, with a lot of dead windows, the smoke between that and the red Bell South building, and the AT&T owl overlooking it. Compare it to the street views I've posted.

Yeah. Kind of cool art deco building, ain't it. But this isn't the modern architecture discussion thread.

In the pictures posted by Checkmite, point out the Hooters.

A neighbor reported seeing cops in the neighborhood Christmas night. Surveilling the place before moving in?

Seems a little bit odd, but we don't know how much they knew.
