Maine has two anti-vacc bills proposed

L.D. 694, sponsored by Rep. Andrea Boland, D-Sanford, would require health care providers to give parents a list of the ingredients in any vaccine.

Federal law already requires doctors to provide a fact sheet that includes information about a vaccine, such as risks and potential reactions, but does not list the ingredients.

The bill's supporters say the public deserves to know the ingredients, which in some vaccines include aluminum and formaldehyde, which is embalming fluid.


The second bill would be to thwart mandatory immunizations in school children.

I think it would depend on how the bill is worded as to whether I would disagree with the first bill. If all they have to do is give the patient a facts sheet that includes a list of ingredients on the back then it is no different than a candy bar and probably most people won't even read it. If they require the person giving the shot to read and explain the ingredient then that puts too much responsibility on that person and would seriously slow their daily work.

The one about not allowing mandatory vaccinations is a disaster waiting to happen. I personally pray that i never see a serious outbreak in America in my lifetime but if it does happen I want the government to be able to require that everyone get vaccinated. Public health trumps private rights.
