Maher on Vaccines

I know this is reviving a long disused thread but recently I watched Bill Maher, which I do occasionally. His stance on vaccines was particularly ill informed.

First he agreed with a guest that perhaps we were 'overloading' kid's bodies with too many vaccines and then turned around and compared vaccination to testosterone supplements. Testosterone supplement will cause the testicles to produce less testosterone, and Maher says that in the same way if one gets too many vaccines one's immune system will cease working on its own!

Does Maher really wish to hold these two mutually exclusive, and both wrong, ideas?

Then on the issue of "GMO's" one guest asks what studies there are to prove they are bad for humans. He is pooh-pooh'd by another guest and Bill's reply is simply "really?", as if its self evident.

I am done with him.

Thank the magic guy in the clouds for John Oliver.

Think about the improvements in sewage systems during that time as well. They were fighting this disease (and others) on any fronts they were able.

An additional thought:
This guy only gets listened to by the skeptical community because he's a vocal atheist. Why should that make his completely insane opinions on medicine valuable? (Not saying he's wrong in this case, but generally speaking, the guy is a bit nuts.)
Maher is the poster child for the expression "pompous a$$" - the kind of guy who as a kid would provoke a (stupid) argument or fight, get beat up, then proclaim it's because everyone is jealous of how right and brilliant he is. There aren't words strong enough to convey what a self-righteous moron he is.
