MacWorld SF 2007 - Apple Moves the Earth Again

Don't feel too bad, fowlsound. No one ever tried to argue against my conclusion. I guess there simply is no argument against it. So be it.

Assignment for Mac Haters at TAM:
Count the Apple laptops in use; count the non-Apple laptops in use. Since Macs have less than 10% of the market, surely 9 out of every 10 laptops will be non-Apple, right?

While you recover from the shock of your findings, kindly demonstrate that my conclusion is in error:

One's likelyhood to own use a Mac is proportional to one's propensity toward rational thought (such as that shown by TAM attendance).

....One's likelyhood to own use a Mac is proportional to one's propensity toward rational thought (such as that shown by TAM attendance).....

I can understand where you are coming from, but I just can't agree with your conclusion on the link between rational thought and using a Mac.

Could I ask you to count the number of people who have facial hair at TAM and using a Mac and come up with the statement :
"One's likelyhood to own use a Mac is proportional to one's propensity toward having facial hair (such as that shown by TAM attendance)"?

And not to disrespect the TAM attendees, but how do you know they have an inclination towards rational thought?

If the Mac is so bad, why does Microsoft keep pinching its operating system? And when you compare the total cost of ownership, making sure you're comparing like with like in the quality department, Macs are not overpriced at all.

Well the Mac just pinched their operating system from Zerox PARC.

By implication, then, your choice for the world's superior beer would be Budweiser?

Or did you not mean to imply a connection between market share and quality?

Or that toyota makes the worlds best cars?

In some things quality is entirely subjective like food products, in others like cars and computers there are objective measurements like fuel effecency and how often it needs to be repaired.

Write me an essay on why The Spice Girls are so much better than El Divo, as you clearly associate market share with quality. Then go on to read about the Betamax/VHS format wars, to educate yourself on why the superior format isn't always the most successful one.

Well for one thing it shows that superior is a highly debateable topic. Beta was not superior because it did not meet peoples needs as effectively as VHS regardless of picture quality, which is not a primary need. Or people would never have recorded things on VHS at the EP setting.

Bwahaha!! Who still uses Macs these days?! Oh wait... I do!

Everytime I'm over at my parents house, and my father asks me to help him with some PC problems, after a while of trying to fix the problem, I feel like tossing that PC out of the Window(tm). I don't understand how people can life with PCs and Windows...

And I always find basic operation to be a pain on the mac. It is what you know and what you want to do that matters the most there.
