MacWorld Expo 2008

If the Macbook Air is for people who travel a lot, then it ought to have a swappable battery.

Why? I'm pretty sure that Apple or a 3rd party will release an external battery pack.

Besides, I do not think the Air is designed primarily for travel. It's designed for people who take their laptops to different locations in a corporate or academic environment, always not very far away from power outlets.

I have a MacBook and work at a university. I carry the MacBook with me from home to my office and to various locations on campus for meetings. If I strip down the MacBook down to everything I need in my office and during meetings, I'll get the Air, and I believe that this thinking started the design process on the Air. Frankly, if my finances were better, I would consider getting it, as a lightweight but convenient (due to the 13in screen and normal sized keyboard as opposed to smaller screen sized machines) computer for everyday work, and hooked up to a USB hub with an external optical drive and backup HD.
