...because a spent bullet harmlessly pinged off his siding during hunting season...

Lou "batcrap crazy" Dobbs said:
"They've now fired a shot at my house while my wife was standing next to the car. It's become something else, and if anybody thinks that we're not engaged in a battle for the soul of this country right now, you're sorely mistaken."

I have lived in the country during hunting season, and you know, a bullet hit my vent window once, and actually just cracked it and fell to the ground. I did not go call the cops or start believing somebody was out to get me; Just that somebody needed a few more lessons in shooting.

I blame the Jersey Devil. Anyway, I think it's nice to know that, because it is Lou Dobbs, it'll be investigated moreso than it would be for anyone else. It was really comforting to read that part of it.

Once you get on the paranoia train, it's hard to get off. Dobbs is CNN's version of Glenn Beck.

This definitely sounds like a case of unsafe firearm handling and not some sort of intentional threat. Lou Dobbs has become such an angry and paranoid person. Like others, I too remember when he was a respected journalist. Sad.

L.

I can remember when he was a respected business reporter.

How long ago was that, out of curiosity? I assume it's more than several years, since that's how long ago he implied on his television show that Canada was just another "cheap foreign labour market."

Lou Dobbs:

And to think that at one time I actually respected this man. Wow... :(

It was probably Janeane Garofalo. According to wiki she lives in the same county.

A guy I knew in school had a little ceramic statue of a horse in his back yard. It was hit with a shotgun slug during hunting season, as a hunter presumably mistook it for a deer.

Am I to conclude that is is normal that your house is shot at by incompetent hunters if you live in rural America?

:boggled:

1990's and before. Maybe even the early part of this decade.

A large-caliber rifle bullet can go 2200 meters, sometimes more, but its lethal range is usually considerably less.
Did you forget a zero, there?
A .22 long rifle bullet can travel a mile (1609m) It even says so on the box.
And that's relatively low-velocity ammo...
