Lou Dobbs leaving CNN

Dobbs met with Fox not too long ago. Its a done deal that he is heading to Fox. Fox's business channel is practically falling off chart ratings wise so I expect Dobbs will end up there as a star to attract viewers.

I wonder how long ago they met?

All the articles I've seen since last night say something like this,

It is unclear whether Dobbs will pursue roles at other cable networks where he could showcase his opinions. On Wednesday, a spokeswoman for the Fox News and Fox Business networks said executives there were not in discussions with the anchor.
or this,

A Fox News spokesman said Wednesday that the network has had no discussions with Dobbs
Since we can be secure in the knowledge that Fox News would not make any statements that were untrue the meeting of which you speak must have been very recent.

thank god!

My choices at 7pm were really crappy...

anything else will be an improvement

John "magic wall" King will be replacing him.

"Now, CNN anchor John King is moving to the 7 p.m. slot, replacing the departing Lou Dobbs, the network confirmed Thursday morning.

King’s new political show will start early in 2010, Jon Klein, president of CNN/U.S., said in a news release. The show will have "the widest range of opinions from across the political spectrum," Klein said."

So in other words, same old ****. More pundits. Just what everyone wants to watch. Babbling morons shouting at each other.

Bill Press took this up thismorning. Ailes seems, from all public statements, not especially eager to take Dobbs on board. Press thinks that Dobbs may be thinking of running for office of some sort, maybe even as President on the Republican ticket. His ego would not be able to accept anything lower.

I do not think this is at all far-fetched. (Not like there are a lot of people they could run who would not be laughed off the stage. They seem to like the odd people.)

Ugh... I was daydreaming about a Cafferty hour... now THAT would be fun!

John King is about as interesting as watching paint dry...

I had heard him mentioned for NJ Gov once, but that ship just sailed for another 4 years. I'd love to see him run for something. He's got the kind of issue-focus and explosive ego that made Guiliani such a fun train wreck. But I seriously doubt he'd do it.
