First - it's "Commandments", not "Commitments". The deity worshipped by the Moses and the boys was not big on that whole "choice" business when it comes to his prescriptive behaviour - he was all about the unthinking obedience.

Second - there are several versions of the 10 commandments, depending on where you look in Exodus.

Third - Given that several of those commandments relate to exclusively worshipping this "diety", we do not base society on them. In fact the only ones that are universal (and predate the Hebrew bible) are the prohibitions against unlawful killing, theft and perjury.

Non-English people, particularly in my experience Scots and French, stereotype English attitudes to language in exactly that way. But I'm sure it's not generally justified, despite your confession.

My wish and my prediction that in the nearest further the discourses and the narratives of Non-English people that use online translators will be dominate on internet forums.
The intellectual and creative levels of those types of conversations will be paradoxically much more higher than forums of natively speaking only English monolingual persons.
