Do you understand that in order to distinguish genuine spirit voices from pareidolia/interference it is necessary to carefully eliminate the latter with a simple test protocol like the ones previously discussed on this thread?

Are you willing to do this, or assist flaccon in doing this?

Do you understand that unless you are able to answer yes to both those questions you are likely to be a much greater hindrance than help to flaccon as she attempts to understand the phenomenon she is investigating?

You could help her now by recommending that she gives her Doctor the link to this thread when she next consults him/her.

You don't need to be delusional to mistakenly believe you can detect words in what is actually random noise.

We acknowledge that you and flaccon may not be mistaken when we suggest simple test protocols to eliminate that possibility.

So, all this exchanging of audio files between flaccon and others was not hampered by flaccon's internet connection problems?
 
Hi scrappy. Welcome to the forum. I like your nic.

You write "bin" when you mean "been". Is English your native tongue? If not, what languages are you fluent in and can you hear voices in those languages?
 
I just watched S1/E2 of the National Geographic series "Test Your Brain".

They give a great example of pareidolia. They play a bunch of noise, and everyone, myself included, hears only noise. Then they tell us that it is saying something like "-------". And then when the noises are played back, it sounds just like the English phrase - over and over. And one cannot undo it to hear the noise again. I left out the phrase because once in the brain it gets stuck.

The visual one with two very different shades of grey that are actually identical is a nice visual illusion.

Can you please clear up a point of ambiguity for me?

Do you mean that one of these two things occurred;

a) after you learned that Tracy had listened to the file you sent to her, you played the original file on your own computer and it sounded qualitatively different,

or

b) after Tracy listened to the file you sent her and she told you about what she imagined she heard then you played the file again and started to think you heard a similar thing too?

The distinction is quite important, so I'd be grateful if you would explain carefully.

From a UK perspective ...

I think flaccon has said that the bishop in question is the current (but soon to retire) Church of England Bishop of Liverpool, James Jones. He's quite a well-known UK churchman of a moderate evangelical viewpoint and has a reasonably high media profile.

I am wondering about this 'Mr Bulger'. Flaccon, it isn't the father of James Bulger, is it? For non-Brits: this was a notorious child murder case in 1993, where a toddler, James Bulger, was abducted and beaten to death by two ten-year-old boys. It sparked a huge debate about crime, punishment, children, modern youth, and so on, and (I think) caused changes in the law regarding children's culpability for crimes. It took place on Merseyside, near where flaccon lives.

If flaccon is in contact with James's father (and not another 'Mr Bulger'), then she certainly is entering dubious territory indeed, of preying on the grieving and vulnerable.

I was asked by a member to go find out what the spirits were capable of, I asked if one of you could post me a silent recording through (in the name of science? no.. for the sake of mankind more like) no one offered to do this so I asked Mr Roberts that evening. As I played his silent recording through this machine, it altered on his own machine. I travelled to Nottingham to see this for myself. Mr Roberts has just the one voice correctly guiding him. I then tested it on a second computer and got the same results.

My connection is very poor right now, hence my lack of posts, but I'll not leave here til I can do no more. There are people reading this thread and letting me know where we are up to, so I am pretty much up to date with the medical assumptions, poor deluded soul? behave :s I would prefer to listen to the GP for that sort of opinion. I updated the GP this morning, and all is STILL well with me.

Should anyone care to make up a bogus email and send me through a silent WAV file, It would be appreciated. As for closing the website, I did it because I realised I was hurting someone deeply, but that does not mean to say I will not re-open it. As for fleecing, how sick, that's utter nonsense.

What exactly did you "see for yourself" in Nottingham? Did you at any point hear Mr. Roberts's recording as it was on his own computer before it was altered?

Mr Roberts has just the one voice correctly guiding him. I then tested it on a second computer and got the same results.

What did you test on a second computer? Were you using a second silent recording? If so, did you hear that one on Mr. Roberts's machine before it was altered?
 
Apologies for my pessimism, but I don't think we'll ever be able to get a straight answer out of Tracey or Mr Roberts. Either they ignore questions or, when they do semi-answer, the wording is so ambiguous and the syntax so confusing that follow-up questions are inevitable, perpetuating the same cycle of ignore/confuse/vanish. It's incredibly frustrating.

I cannot help but think the lack of clarity in writing and communicating is somehow tied to the lack of critical thinking skills which lead to imagining spirit beings guiding you.

That all you two hear are nonsensical statements and phrases with poor sentence structure is a clear indication that you are experiencing pareidolia.

If you think otherwise then make a clear and testable claim. Until you can rule out the mundane it is the most likely explanation.
