Pretty much it's a handy little toolkit to have; it can also convert between formats as well. And it can record video and audio. Or just audio from webcam streams, so you don't need to save things as wmv's!
 
And which exports as flac. Audacity does, but gives me 3x file size compared to an mp3 original, 16 bit, various levels tried.

Interesting. My understanding is that it is just the high-tech version of them sticking their fingers in their ears and singing 'la la la' when your lips move, so everyone else except them knows what you said. I think you both have to do it for it to be mutual.

My question is - if you take them off ignore do you then see their previous posts or are they blocked to you for ever?

You are an adult and you should moderate yourself. On a text forum, remember the Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyam:

Unfortunately flaccon also gets involved in poo-flinging matches whenever she has one of her hissy fits where she accuses us of something or another, or where we point out something that she's done like moving a goalpost and she takes exception to it.

If it was on mod we could at least get a claim out of her rather than tales of what mrs k and mrs s and mr roberts and mr burgler and whoever else so that we could make progress.

yes that's true - it seems that the noise has to be as distorted and at as low a bitrate as possible for these voices to materialise. Also, why wouldn't 30 seconds of pure silence as generated by Audacity work? Or has the claim changed from silence to background noise? :boggled:

Moderated threads are a pita. Everyone needs to cut the snark (myself included) and forge ahead. Stay on topic and we will be fine.

You've probably got a point there; I doubt I could stop being sarky for long enough to get any posts approved. Or not get wound up by flaccon's prevarication, goalpost shifting and stuff and give her a stern talking to.

I suspect flaccon thinks that opening a mic and not speaking etc into it is the same as silence. It is of course not, which of course is the soil for her pareidolia.

If only flaccon would be more specific.
