Looking at Dehydration (help)

What was the story behind the death , Hunt?

In Algeria once we found the remains of a convoy of smugglers who had run out of water. They had clearly been lost for some days before they died.

Negligence, mostly.

A soldier reported to sick call in the morning feeling dizzy, weak, and otherwise like crap. The PA on duty told him he had a cold, and sent him to his cot to sleep for the day, basically assuming the guy was faking, and doing no diagnostics at all. The pulse, respirations, and BP were taken by the check-in medic, and showed some signs (BP lower than normal, pulse a bit high).

That evening, one of his buddies came back from a convoy mission and noticed he was still in his bunk. Went to wake him, and he was cold.

Needless to say, the PA was rapidly removed from his duties and prosecuted under UCMJ.

At work, I had noticed a poster that enumerated a number of claims about the effects of dehydration. Amongst the claims was that 75% of Americans were chronically dehydrated. That was enough to raise my suspicions so I started my internet searching. I found information (on Wikipedia) that discussed dehydration and a link for a web-site (I think Rehydrate.com) that indicated that the claim was made by this "Doctor" (forget the name). I also found through snopes that the claim by this "Doctor" is false. Does anyone have any additional information that I can check?

Thanks

Other people have answered the claims in this link, but I have to point out one thing:

There are parts of America that get sunlight, and they get a lot of it. I live in Florida, though if I get the job, I will soon be living in New Hampshire or Massachussetts. Anyway, I have to drink considerably more than 4 pints a day to stay hydrated.
