Merged Lockerbie bomber alive after 9 months

How can he collaborate on a book about a crime he had nothing to do with?

/end

I've been interested in this case for over twenty years and have read most of the publicly-available documentation, so I can claim to know a fair bit about it.

Therefore, I must have had something to do with the crime. :boggled:

Happy new year to all.

Oh dear. Someone didn't die on cue. Isn't it a bit ghoulish to be wishing someone's death?

Aren't there more important issues surrounding Lockerbie than where exactly Megrahi happens to be on the survival curve for metastatic prostate cancer?

Rolfe.

Maybe the release of Megrahi had less to do with his cancer than originally claimed.

Come on... you know as well as I do that survival (so far) means that he´s guilty and that he intentionally contracted cancer in order to get out of jail...

... or something. Those Lybians are a sneaky bunch.

I don't think anyone claims he intentionally contracted cancer to get out of jail, I think a much more reasonable suspicion is that the state of his health was exaggerated in order to get him out of jail, and it was done primarily by people who are either in denial about his guilt, or who don't think his crime was a bad thing.

I suggest you read the Lockerbie threads in a little more detail, Mycroft.

I don't think I've read such concentrated wrong in a single post for quite some time.

If anything, the seriousness of his illness was exaggerated to get him out of Scotland ASAP before his appeal progressed any further through the courts, and so avoid having to face up to two uncomfortable facts.

  1. the justice system convicted an innocent man on evidence that shouldn't have been enough to support the issuing of a parking ticket
  2. the terrorists who actually bombed that plane have been at large and probably laughing their backsides off for over 20 years.
However, it's actually quite hard to see how anyone who might have wanted to bury that particular hot potato could have been in a position to influence the medical advice that was being given.

Rolfe.
