Local News

I bet kids love it. :D

My recollection was that it was almost exactly a 50:50 split between kids and grandparents.

It was beautifully done, but relatively small when I visited it.

I think it is much larger now (same scale but more village).

It brought back fond memories of 'model villages' in the UK when I was a kid.

Big local news here is that a woman was murdered on the local rail trail, shot in the head by person unknown, for reasons unknown. This past summer I cycled it several times a week. And for all I know there's a madman with a gun waiting to blow random people's brains out. Yikes.

Canadian breaks speed record for eating 50 Carolina reapers

Spoiler Alert -- they are hot peppers not collectors of souls. :(
Wasn't sure I would post this aside, hurts just thinking about it.
I forget the names but, the creator of the Reaper and the new hottest (~3 times hotter?) Pepper X, as well as the owner of the bottled sauce company Heatenist seem to agree that "the Scoville scale is not cumulative". As in, if you can choke down the first two or three, more will just marginally increase the duration not the pain level. Wouldn't know, I suspect there's a medical risk and I'm not willing. [emoji1]
But gawds help you if you've got hemorrhoids... there's a reason that madman named his company 'Puckerbutt'. [emoji15]

OK then. Fun Fact: Peppers aren't hot. They just taste hot. So it's all in your mind.

Whew! That looked harrowing. We'll talk to somebody who heard about it. Tonight at 11.

In Burke news, Enoch's (of upthread fame) sister Ammi just got landed with a hefty bill from the High Court for costs in her failed case against former employer Arthur Cox & Assocs. in the Workplace Relations Commission and her subsequent failed court appeal against said loss, by basically going near FotL like in she and her family did in the original WRC hearing.

I'm sure you're all glad to hear we've not inflicted the family on the rest of the world, yet.

They really are a bunch of idiots, but I think it's a shame that you haven't exported the Mr Burke's Family sitcom - they are a lot more entertaining than Mrs Brown's Boys!

Burkes by name, burks by nature.
