When I worked at IBM we had a lion loose in the grounds. It ate a manager a day and it took a couple of months before we noticed. Old IBM slang term for middle managers was "lion food".

The Sun had an original and enhanced version of the photo, and that looks like the enhanced version. However, the Sun story doesn't seem to have either version any more.

I am an Essex girl, however, an immigrant Essex girl.

As with quite a few stereotypes, there is a thread of truth in a fair number of them.

I really wonder why the police didn't phone any local zoos or wildlife parks to see if their lion was missing.

It isn't as if we have hundreds of lions in Essex, or even England.

It's amazing the tricks perspective can play. I once saw a hare apparently as big as a pony in a field in Hampshire and it took a while to get my eyes to adjust to whatever optical illusion was in effect.

The did and there were none ,a Circus had been in town a few weeks ago but they had no Lions either.

Where is the logic of police launching a big investigation telling residents "stay indoors" for aanimal that isnt native to UK towns!!
Surley check zoos then mark it up as mistaken identity?
