Limbaugh, Remove Foot insert the Other

I'm ok with that. You will note I was never one calling for Rush's head, I am just sticking mine in where nobody asked for it. :)

No, you were not calling for Rush's head (nor for any other part of his body, thank God).

Speaking of calling for other parts of Rush's body, remember when those rumors were circulating that Rush was dating that nerdy computer chick from 24? That still makes me laugh.

There's a video of him kissing her somewhere.

He was dating her and he needed Viagra?

I believe she denied it. I've never seen the video, but I've heard (probably here at JREF) that the kiss was rather akward and she wanted nothing to do with Rush. I'll have to look for the video.

If only she knew then what she knows now. Namely, that Rush is the kind of guy who will stoop so low as to criticize a person's serious illness just because he disagrees with the Republican agenda. I'm sure she's sorry she didn't hop on the R Train for a ride when she could.

Another random note: the first time I saw a news headline online about the Rush/Fox thing, I fully thought the story was going to be about Geddy Lee or Neil Pert. Unfortunately, it wasn't.

Perhaps this is all an allegory with Fox as Prince By-tor and Limbaugh as The Necromancer.

Limbaugh is not Coulter, and I think that the "Al Franken and Stewart do it" is more of the demonization of alleged liberals, when a certain mind set dominates the air waves the 'other side is also polarizing' is very weak. If 99% of the polarization comes from one side then it is an interesting argument in rhetoric. When people are liberaly foolish, they usualy don't have the bully pulpit. My favorite of these woo liberal arguments runs like this 'the number of convictions for small time felons is rising based upon obstruction of justice charges, recently a small time felon recieved recieved six years in prison for an obstruction charge. Obstruction charges are the new way to oppresses the (insert here) minority.'. What they don't ever, ever ,ever say is what charges the felon was originaly up on, when they pled to the obstruction charges or what other cahrges were dropped in exchange for just the obstuction charges.

So this great woo arguments is based upon unsound reasoning, that race determines sentencing, when it is socio-economic status that determines sentencing.

However these woos do not have the bully pulpit and they do not influence the media the way that O'Riely, Scarbourogh, Savage and Coulter do, Rush while the original has been supplanted.

Take Noam Chomsky , he cites sources and data, he doesn't usualy use words that are adding to the fire. He does say things that peole don't like but while infuriating his tone is quite moderate.

What harm has Rush done? I would say he has helped polarize the country moreso than other people have. He continuously fills the airwaves with an "us vs them" meme where he and his cohorts are the sole good guys.
Something like the herd here ... he just represents the 'evil ... whew, Thank Ed that doesn't exist' viewpoint. ;)

Yeah, and it really does make Limbaugh look like a horses a**.
Here's the part that gets me. I can't remember what I was listening to last night, but someone played a clip of Limbaugh defending himself by saying that if Fox is going to stump for politicians, then he is opening himself up for criticism. And as far as that goes, I absolutely agree.

However, Limbaugh was not criticizing Fox concerning his politics. He was criticizing Fox for not hiding his disease.

I used to listen to Limbaugh in college and, back then, I fell for a lot of his garbage. He was the first test-case for my critical thinking skills on ambiguous topics.

He may be, as you say, more demonized than demonizing, but he is pretty damned demonizing.

I'm hoping that somewhere is between the chin and forehead. A video of Rush kissing anybody anywhere else is not seomthing that should exist in any space-time continuum!

BTW, what has Rush done to earn a death wish? Don't misunderstand me, I can see contempt, death? Why? I'm serious about that. I think politics is the last bastion of woo for skeptics. This sounds like emotional woo to me. And hey, I've admitted that I want Fred Phelps dead but I get that. It's not simply politics, Fred Phelps is hurting a lot of innocent people with malicious intent so I think an argument can be made. Can you make an argument for Limbaugh death and a comparison to Hitler or are you simply controlled by your emotion and ideology?

Kill him, no. Help him,no. Feel lessened by his death, hell,no.

So I think we can all agree on the final score.

Limbaugh: Crass
Fox: Class

He continuously fills the airwaves with an "us vs them" meme where he and his cohorts are the sole good guys. He continuously mischaracterizes the other side of the debate and gets his facts wrong, thus making his listeners more ignorant. He ridicules the other side and marginalizes those who disagree with him, thus providing lessons for his listeners to do likewise which keeps true debate from occurring. He continually lampoons those who look at complex issues and see shades of grey in them as Rush simplifies everything to a soundbyte summary despite the issue not being conducive to such simplification. He is anti-science with his regard to anything that casts the Republican party on the wrong side of scientific consensus. His ridicule of this only makes it harder for true scientists to be heard.

That's a start. I don't think it is worthy of death, but he ain't helping IMO.

Sounds EXACTLY like most talk jocks on the "other stations", regardless of party affiliation.

I think Rush is a blowhard and a showman, but he is one big reason I became interested in politics about 12 - 15 years ago. It was a mixture of his "show" and whatever was being discussed at the time that got me.

In all seriousness, I'd save his life, then I would make millions off of my story. Surely it is a crime to watch a person die if you could have made a simple and obvious effort to save them? Can a person be charged with murder in any such scenario?

The thought that any person could sit back and watch another person die without trying to help (unless the former is directly responsible for the harm being brought upon the latter, or the former wishes death upon the latter) makes me sick.

Being killed for...talking?

Sure, trying to increase that post count. Forget it. You'll never catch up with me this way. I'll respond to every one of these lame attempts. Hahahaha.........

For RandFan:

I was going to point out that Alex Lifeson is the most under-appreciated rock guitarist ever. Then I realized I quoted the wrong part of the above post...or something like that. I don't know...it was late.

So there...one more post (and still losing ground! The rich get richer while the poor get richer more slowly).

I have found that people who hate Rush have never heard his radio show.

Hmm, while I don't "hate" Rush I do dislike him quite a bit. And I bet I have been listening to him off and on longer than you have. I started back in 1991 if I recall correctly.

Well, if you want to play that specific game, then I'll ask if you have found more people who hate Rush Limbaugh without listening to his show or more people who hate Air America Radio without listening to their programs?

In the early 90's I my job required me to travel to a number of smaller cities in the east. The number of radio stations was quite limited so I listened to a fair amount of Rush and I hate him.

I submit I hated Rush more WHEN I listened to his show than I do now when I do not give the man the time of day.
