My bro found this online

https://www.lightrelief.com/order.php

I saw a customer service link, so I decided to try to talk to a representative. Here's the transcript of our discussion (Dave is a pseudonym):

Dave: What types of ailments does this work with?

You are now speaking with CheMonte of Light Relief.

Dave: Hello

CheMonte: Welcome to Light Relief Customer Service. Could you please provide me with the following information: full name, shipping address, and telephone number?

Dave: Oh I'm sorry. I thought you could ask product-related questions here.

Dave: I'm wondering if this product can help with arthritis, etc.

CheMonte: Light Relief helps provide for a temporary improved range and freedom of motion due to muscle relaxation and temporary relief of minor aches and pains in muscles and joints. Medical studies report that the technology used in Light Relief provides temporary relief to
minor aches and pains associated with arthritis.

Dave: How exactly does it work?

CheMonte: Light Relief is a pain relief device that emits energy in the infrared spectrum. It also provides topical heating for the purpose of elevating and/or maintaining tissue temperature. Light Relief should be used wherever heat application is prescribed for personal comfort, and
for the temporary relief of minor muscle pain, joint pain and stiffness.

Dave: So it heats up muscles?

CheMonte: Light Relief is intended to temporarily relieve many types of minor aches and pains in muscles and joints. Medical studies report that the technology used in Light Relief provides temporary relief to joints and muscles.

Dave: Do you have the names of those studies? I'm not trying to be rude, but the sun emits energy in the infrared spectrum, so so far I'm not convinced.

CheMonte: No, i do apologize for more information please lof [sic] on to our website www.lightrelief.com or call Customer Service at 1-800-554-6051. Thank you

CheMonte: Please log on, Sorry

Dave: Your website does not explain how it works either.

Dave: Nor does it provide sources for studies.

CheMonte: If you like i can mail you literature on the product if you provide me with your general information.

Dave: And it would explain how the product works?

CheMonte: Yes

Dave: Ok, I'll request product literature through the site. One more quick question. How large is this device?

CheMonte: 71/2 -L, 5-W,2-DEPTH

Dave: These numbers are inches, I assume?

CheMonte: YES

Dave: Is the product fragile? If I dropped it on the floor accidently, would it still work?

Dave: I'm trying to figure out the $15 dollar s/h charge. That sounds kinda steep.

CheMonte: I do apoogize [sic] we never experience that your product is covered under a 2 year warranty.

CheMonte: a shipping and handling fee does apply to each item on your order. This charge includes the cost to process and ship your order.

CheMonte: Apologize.

Dave: And this would not be refunded if I'm not satisfied?

CheMonte: We have a 30 day policy less shipping.Thank you

CheMonte: If I can be of no further help, thank you for contacting Customer Service

Dave: I'm thinking. I'll be back if I can come up with anything. Thank you for your time.

CheMonte: must end our chat and help another customer.

At the end, I was asked to rate my satisfaction with the CS Rep. It then let me know that if I provided my e-mail address, I could get a transcript of the chat. I put in nothanksIcutandpasted@sIwental.ong

At first I suspected that you were talking with a chatterbot. A number of those responses looked pretty canned. And notice the change in language style when your questions started to get more complex.

Answer: The rep has a txt file sitting to the side with the canned responses already typed in. I know this because I do a similar thing myself.

Yeah, those are definitely canned responses. I think it's hilarious that he has the literature explaining everything yet can't seem to read any of it to me.

I can't seem to get onto that live help service. Has it been taken down?

I had to click on the live support button several times until I got through to a representative. It probably took about 10 minutes of clicking and closing the "Leave-us-a-Message" box. Yes, I have way too much time on my hands. :)

So if massage with light is called Light Relief what should we call traditional massage that only uses the hand?

And would I get slapped if I asked for it in the gym?

LOL Now I'm thinking of a whole new series of questions to ask! My brother saw the ad for this on a religious network. If it really worked, would they be promoting sinful self-stimulation?

Light Relief may be a crock, but considering the general state of customer service these days, your experience with the rep looks no worse than what you might get with some other product. I've had reps laugh in my face (well not literally, I was on the phone) and shout at me in anger. Others had accents so thick, I had no clue what they were saying and soon gave up (which I suspect might have been the plan). It seems to be especially bad in the computer industry (and I work for IBM).

This needs to be stopped. Next thing you know, someone will try to pass off such insane ideas as light beer and light salad dressing.

Light headednes?
Light heartedness?

You are, of course, correct. Where will it all end?

Waaay too much time, indeed, but it is to be admired.
