I am much afeared the poor man requires professional help to get over his compulsive lying.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/3351915.stm

In the interview with the British Forces Broadcasting Service, Mr Blair had said: "The Iraq Survey Group has already found massive evidence of a huge system of clandestine laboratories, workings by scientists, plans to develop long range ballistic missiles"

However, when Jonathan Dimbley asked Paul Bremer if this was true he quoth:

"I don't know where those words come from but that is not what (ISG chief) David Kay has said"

"I have read his {David Kay's} reports so I don't know who said that"

"It sounds like a bit of a red herring to me. It sounds like someone who doesn't agree with the policy sets up a red herring then knocks it down."

Bliar Bliar pants on fire!

There definitely appears to be a "level of translation" operating between the report-writers and the report-readers. Probably private personal secretaries or permanent under-secretaries or some such malarkey. Their job seems to be somehow mitigating a 180o spin on any reports to Blair from the field.

Either that, or he just doesn't read the papers or watch TV much.
