Let's talk about Lynndie England

How sad. Once again the powerful and rich take advantage of those that life has cursed.

I hope you all feel better after mocking her.

I don't see too many people mocking her (especially Mycroft) for her perceived limitations. If anything, there's anger that England will probably get a stiff sentence, and Janice Karpinski will merely get a slap on the wrist, i.e., busted down to Colonel from BG.

England has displayed a remarkable lack of judgement. There's her fraternization with a superior, her posing for those photographs, and a number of other gaffes which make me wonder if anyone ever really talked to this girl and asked some of the hard questions necessary to ask before you send someone into the military. She probably never should have been in uniform in the first place.

If I had to guess, she went into the military trying to figure out how to build a better life for herself. That was an honorable and noble goal. I'm sorry it turned out like this for her.

Would she be save in jail?

Nope. Probably, she'd be gang raped, beaten, and badly abused. She's a high profile prisoner, and the lower cons and the screws would look for any way they could to break her down, and make her as low as possible. Sort of the means by which they enforce the pecking order in that environment.

From http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/3806713.stm

The US commander at the centre of the Iraqi prisoner scandal says she was told to treat detainees like dogs.

Presumably she was told to do this by Lyndie England and like a good Brigadier General obeyed the brain damaged private immediately and without question.

Here's a difficult question - why did Major General Geoffrey Miller tell Karpinski "He said they are like dogs and if you allow them to believe at any point that they are more than a dog then you've lost control of them." ?

What was that about truth and freedom?

Will she be sent to a normal prison or a military one?

And do they have female only sections?

She'll be in a military prison. And yes, they have female only sections, but she'll largely be guarded by men.

If you think Abu Ghraib was bad...
