Lessons to be learned from the Kavanaugh Hearing

Let's say she made a profit in this way.

That is no evidence that she lied.

That is correct. But it also misses why the argument about money was raised in the first place. It wasn't evidence that she lied, it was a refutation of the claim that she didn't lie because she had no motive to lie. There are indeed possible motives to lie, including (but not limited to) money. Does that mean she lied? No, you are correct, it doesn't mean that. But that was never really the point.

She wasn't directly raising money; others were doing it either on her behalf or using her image for other ends. She endorsed the account#1 from the list upthread, as she did have to move and provide security against death threats to her and her family. The goal was much lower than the donations received.

She could have had any number of secret motives. Maybe she wanted to spur Republican enthusiasm in time for the midterms.

Yes, it's conceivable she had a motive. It doesn't appear terribly consistent with her reported actions, including attempting to avoid public disclosure of her identity, but it's possible that was all a ruse, as well.

Pretty weak-ass claim, but those claiming she had no possible motive would also be defending the indefensible. We're all watching from a distance here.

Kavanaugh had an obvious motive to lie, too, so I don't think there ever really was a point.

There was a point, insofar as some claimed Ford had literally no motive to lie. That is a claim that we're not in a position to evaluate well.

That said, Kavanaugh's motive to lie is rather more obvious.

None of this should suggest that Kavanaugh lied, of course. I tend to put some more faith in Ford's testimony than Kavanaugh's, but it matters little. Given his partisan presentation ("What goes around comes around"?) and literally obvious lies under oath (a judge knows the difference between "witnesses do not confirm" and "witnesses deny"), he should never have been admitted to the bench. That performance was enough to sink him.

Theprestige to introduce nonsense about "process charges" in 5... 4... 3...

Donnelly, McCaskill, and Heitkamp all voted against Kavanaugh, and got ousted. Nelson may join them shortly. Manchin voted for Kavanaugh, and got re-elected.

Will Democrats learn anything from this? That remains to be seen.

ETA: Nelson concedes.

The money motive wouldn't be my first guess for lying at the start, though it would incentivize continuing the lie once public. Simple partisanship would be my first guess as to why such a lie might have originated. That appears to be why Judy Munro-Leighton lied about Kavanaugh raping her.

Yeah, SJWs and democrats are not giving his family death threats. Funny thing, that.

"Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh's wife, Ashley, has been receiving graphic and violent threats, according to emails obtained by Fox News."

-- Fox News (Sept 21, 2018)

"Citing an internal law enforcement report, a senior administration official told CNN Thursday that the number of death threats made against Supreme Court nominee Kavanaugh and his family have increased since Ford's allegations came to light. The official said there are several current threats against the Kavanaughs that law enforcement deems credible."

Your focus on just that one argument, and repeated straining to get back to it when people generally aren't really using it or even talking about it, seems a bit excessive, for an argument so unusual that you would need to go searching for it.

You're free to demonstrate that it was SJWs or Democrats made any threats, of course.

(eta: Justice Kavanaugh's wife received, according to your link, three 'F.U.' emails, not credible death threats)

But you're changing the subject. The question I asked you was were you aware that 4 of the 5 GoFundMe accounts had no connection at all to ford, and that #2 stopped taking donations months ago? Did you intentionally misrepresent them or was it a comprehension thing?

Update: Picked up a couple of $500 donations yesterday. New total = $635,446

Nice!

"I cannot express how grateful I am for the generosity that we have received through this GoFundMe account." -- Dr. Fraud

I'm sure she is grateful for donations to pay for moving, living on the road and a private security detail. Kavanaugh of course gets free security for him and his family courtesy of the taxpayers.
