Lessons to be learned from the Kavanaugh Hearing

She was well compensated ($700,000) for her carefully scripted and teary-eyed performance. That money can be put to good use -- she can add a 3rd front door.

In all honesty, what should happen now? Should she somehow remain the center of attention?

She came forward and gave testimony. Unless you believe she was lying or, perhaps, negligently mistaken about her testimony, then she deserves plaudits for her courage and honesty. That doesn't mean that she will always be the focus of attention. She should be treated with respect and esteem, but she's not the focus of the midterms by herself.

Bill Mitchell's complaint is simply bizarre.

ETA: You didn't seem to get Mitchell's complaint. He said she was forgotten. You said she was well-compensated. Do choose a side.

Are you looking for a second opinion? You have the link and the law is stated pretty clearly. Which part are you having trouble with?

The part where he admits he's wrong.

Dear River,

If a pedestrian blocks your path for over five minutes and refuses to get out of your way please feel free to run them over!

Sincerely,
The State of Oregon

Nah, it looks more like this when Police are present. The fact some posters here feel this type of behavior is legal, and non threatening is not only dangerous, but telling.

It's clear Slings thinks she lied, from his post. Obviously, right-wing Christian judges can't possibly be guilty of wrongdoing.

NEW YORK (AP) — A New York man has been charged with threatening to kill two U.S. senators for supporting Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation to the U.S. Supreme Court. Federal prosecutors are not naming the senators who received the threatening messages.

Can't say i am surprised given the venom we have seen from the Left.

Good. We shouldn't tolerate this sort of stuff.

Can't say i am surprised given the venom we have seen from the Left.

As opposed to, say, random people calling the press the enemy of the people or cheering physical assaults on journalists.

Because it's often interesting to examine the similarities and differences. This is especially true when we are discussing the nationalization of an industry, or the government providing services in competition with or in place of the private sector.

there is a huge difference between a Government Agency, a state-run enterprise and just a state-owned enterprise.
Please make clear what kind of fruits you are trying to compare here.

“The trouble with socialism is socialism; the trouble with capitalism is capitalists.” -William F. Buckley

Companies don't run better because of capitalism. Capitalism only makes it easier for businesses with apparent potential to raise capital. But because of the need to appear successful at all times, market-funded companies might have to sacrifice long-term benefits for short-term profits.

What makes you think companies need to appear successful at all times?

"New York resident Ronald DeRisi was arrested Friday for allegedly threatening to murder and assault two U.S. senators over their support for the successful nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, federal authorties said.

"In one voicemail, DeRisi allegedly warned one senator that he had a 'present' for the lawmaker. 'It’s a nine millimeter. Side of your … skull … Yeah, Kavanaugh – I don’t think so,' DeRisi allegedly said."

-- CNBC (Oct 19, 2018)

It's par for the course. As President Trump repeated again last night, "Democrats are the party of crime."

Sure, but that makes his concern even more bizarre. We set up this person to lie for us, she (allegedly) made lots of money doing so, but we are bad people for not keeping our attention on her.

How the hell does any of that work? Even given that she told the truth, what should dear old Democrats do to keep attention on her?

I'm sure it makes sense to him.

It's pretty dishonest of you to ignore the repeated links to conservatives making similar threats, Slings.

You assume that Slings purpose and intent is honest discussion. LOL! It's quite obvious that he, big dog, and a few others purpose and intent is simply Divisiveness.

You think they spend time rubbing their hands together in their homes going "Mwa ha ha ha! I don't believe a word that I'm posting but I'll find some way today to divide the country!"?

To be honest, that's less absurd than I imagine you intended.

Man arrested for threatening Kavanaugh-supporting senators

A Long Island man was busted for making death threats against GOP U.S. Senators Chuck Grassley and Susan Collins for their support of then-Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, The Post has learned.

Ronald DeRisi, 74, was taken into custody early Friday, and is expected to be arraigned later in the day in Central Islip federal court before Magistrate judge Gary R. Brown.

In a rant aimed at the 85-year-old senator, DeRisi was recorded saying “We’re tired of this guy sucking taxpayers’ money! Getting a free ******* ride! How many more years you gonna do it? None! He’s a dead man! 9 millimeter, side of the ******* head! If ******* Kavanaugh gets in, he’s dead ******* meat! Actually even if Kavanaugh doesn’t get in he’s dead ******* meat. 9 millimeter, side of the head, you ******* old bastard.”

-- New York Post (Oct 19, 2018)

"Representative democracy cannot work if elected officials are threatened with death for simply doing their job. The First Amendment - the pinnacle of American achievement - protects debate, disagreement and dissent, not death threats. We and all those dedicated to the rule of law will not tolerate the use of violence and threats of violence in attempts to prevail in political disputes.

"I greatly appreciate the hard work of our investigators for addressing these threats so quickly, and that of the U.S. Attorney’s staff for prosecuting this case."

-- U.S. Attorney Richard P. Donoghue (Oct 19, 2018)
