Leicester Council admits it is unprepared for an attack by zombies!

I must admit, I don't go into Leicester city centre at night these days, but many's the time in the past that I have shuffled through town in the middle of the night, completely unaware of my surroundings. Admittedly, I didn't call for brains, but who knows what goes on these days?

What the HELL are these people elected for if not to protect the citezenry from a Zombie attack?

Be fair, they said they had no specific plans in case of a zombie attack, but that aspects of their existing disaster plans would apply...
BBC said:
Ms Wyeth said she was unaware of any specific reference to a zombie attack in the council's emergency plan, however some elements of it could be applied if the situation arose.

From here...

And what about leopards?

If they haven't got a plan for zombies, can we at least rest easy they have *something* in place to fight off leopards riding motorcycles with sidecars rigged with machine guns?

I was rather amused by this report:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leicestershire-13713798

In addition to attack by zombies, people asked about paranormal activity and haunted houses in the city. The enquirers might have been joking, of course; this explanation doesn't seem to have been considered.

Yeah, thankfully we have lots of money to pay for people to reply to idiots submitting stupid FOIA requests.

That is right, isn't it?

what do you thing the marginal cost of replying to that FOI request was?

The Leicester City Council FOI charging policy document for 2008 (the latest on their site) is at the bottom of this page.

A couple of relevant excerpts:

Of course what is missing is how many utterly pointless requests, individually costing up to £450, there are. How much do you think the info this request revealed was worth?

Well, I'd say the information it provided was worth nothing, as it wasn't information; it was redundant. A request that revealed that there was something that Leicester City Council were both competent and prepared to deal with would provide information.

And now it seems that their unpreparedness may have come back to haunt them. Let this be a lesson to other councils around the country.

FACT: Leicester is pronounced "Lester"
FACT: the "ICE" in Leicester is completely superfluous
ERGO: Leicester has a surplus of ice

This extraneous ice could be piled up at strategic points throughout the town as barricades against the undead horde.

Problem solved. You're welcome.

But what are they doing about the horde of invisible pink vampire elephants on Mars?
