Which leads me to my question: when you see those same things depicted in a TV show or movie, do they sound anything at all like they really do in person? I'm willing to bet the answer is, in the vast majority of instances, no.
A television sound system will not deliver the true sound of a large caliber handgun being fired. It makes your ears rign. That's why every professional, commercial or shooting club firing range in the world requires hearing protection.
Television will not convey the sensation that the whole world has become over-pressurized to match the blast of a grenade or artillery burst.
And I have never heard anything that would drown out a pound of plastic explosives a thousand feet away.
