Legalize, regulate, and tax marijuana?

They were just talking about California's ballot proposition on NPR's Morning Edition... As to whether legalization would result in less trafficking.
The consensus was no, at least not as long as the substance remains illegal in other states.
Illegality means higher prices, and so California growers will be motivated to increase profits by exporting MJ to non-legal states.....

I am in favor of the full legitimization of marijuana, but only if the drug gets watered down and regulated by the FDA.

Weed is just too strong, in its current form, to be smoked. Reduce it to 20% of its potency, and then yeah..legalize it.

It takes several drinks to become intoxicated from alchohol. Marijuana needs to be adjusted to have similar properties. I know that even one good hit, can seriously effect you and render you useless for a few hours.
Won't work.

People will just smoke more of it, or grow their own more potent stuff.

This is a plant, not a manufactured drug.

Wow.

Take it from a heavy smoker, weed is not "too strong". I've bought lots and lots of different weed and there was never a batch that was too strong.

A bunch that were "too weak"...:)

Wanna tell me where you find this stuff?

How do you notice the difference?

Sorry, Thunder. But I just could not pass up an opener like that one.

Well ... yes.

Mindlessly parroting totally fictitious scare propaganda and trying to excuse it under the aegis of "personal opinion" is offensive.

well now, you are going to have to prove that I have not simply stated my own personal opinions and views.

cause that's all they are, my personal analysis...from experience. and my own personal opinions on the matter.

deal with it.

Wtf does that even mean?

I can be of the opinion the moon is made of purple cheese. Does that mean it's not wrong?

Guy-"Wohaaa, you made this drink way too strong!"

Bartender-"No I didn't."

Guy-"In my opinion you did."

Bartender-"Well in my opinion the moon is made of purple cheese."

Guy-"Did you put E-85 ethanol in this?"

Bartender-"Oh, did you want E-10?"

Guy-"This drink's too strong."-thud

Does that clear up how, 'pot is too strong' can be an opinion that will differ from person to person? Now I don't think pot is all 'too strong' just like I don't think all wine is 'too strong'. I wouldn't tell someone who likes sweet wine that the dry I gave them couldn't be 'too strong'.

While I'm for the legalization and taxation of marijuana - I don't think it'll happen anytime soon other than "medicinal" uses, or tolerated with lesser fines for small amounts possessed.

Also, I'm not too sure many politicians are willing to endorse it with our current social acceptance, and world acceptance levels.
