I am glad you are posting in this thread Pup :) Why has not your loving wife been able to bring you into the fold. You know how much it would mean to her.

For the same reason I haven't brought her into my fold. We each respect the other. I tell her that when she dies and is assigned an LDS husband in the Celestial Kingdom, she should at least get Brigham Young if not Joseph Smith. :)

I asked her to comment on the last statement. Here's what she said (pause while I call into the other room):

"The church teaches that the wife is to be respectful of the husband and I respect your beliefs and that it would cause contention, it would cause ill feeling, and it would just make you miserable. The gospel isn't for everyone. We like to think it is as Latter-Day Saints but there are just those for whom it would make their lives miserable. To me, there are eternal truths but I believe that those eternal truths are found not only in religion but in science as well and I believe that the day will come that the Prophet will reveal that evolution is an eternal truth."

God wants them to be without love.

Which is kind of ironic (at least to me) as both the people who went through reassignment surgery were both straight, and still attracted to the same sex. They just weren't happy with their own sex. Gender and sex are two complicated issues that I really wish religion would stop trying to force on people.

Slowvehicle, It is a trial they have to deal with, whether the cause is chemicals in our environment, pesticides, medications, artificial additives or whatever... as with all our individual trials, we will be judged of how we deal with them.

I am sorry to give you reason to think I am being rude, but that does not speak to my question. I ask again:

"...are you saying the transgendered chose to be trapped between, neither fish nor fowl?
Or are you saying that 'god' lets them suffer, so that their rewards will be greater?"

So... if they're lucky they're born to parents wealthy enough to afford medical treatment and live a fairly lengthy life under treatment, if they're less likely their family goes into debt trying to make ends meet, if they're not lucky they slowly suffer and die from the disease they get.

How... wonderful a creator you have there.

"Let's see... that one will be born into wealthy parents, live a mostly comfortable life, die at 90 surrounded by family.
And... that one will be born in misery, raped at 13, become pregnant, loose the child due to lack of available health care, also leaving her incontinent and sterile until she dies at the age of twenty from starvation.

However, both shall be judged equally."

Nice.

It is not necessary for us to live a long life. Those who do not, are blessed in that their trial is short, with less mistakes to be accounted for... and in the case of a child under the age of eight, they have no sins to be judged on, and will inherit the highest degree that their pre existant life allows for.

There were no diseases in the Garden of Eden before sin was introduced to the world through Eve disobeying the instructions of our Heavenly Father.

When a young child dies of leukemia, what bad choices did it make? This pollyannish view of the world isn't at all helpful.

I can't even being to understand why you'd think any life cut tragically short is a blessing because "well they won't screw up later".

So a nine year old that got murdered after being kidnapped however, can still be on the way to eternal torment, how lovely.

If you could save a young child would you? Why won't god do what you would do? How come your morality is superior to gods?

Epicurus said:
"Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing?
Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing.
Then ---Whence Cometh Evil?---
Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God?"

Rand:
Cause and effect. Choice and consequence. Allowing free agency to enable there to be a trial.

This life is but a blip in our Eternal Progression.

NaySayer: Why would a nine year old "be on the way to eternal torment" ? Please, less dramatics :D

Ummm, wow. Death is a blessing?

Janadele, do you really mean these things you say? My short list is (1) bigotry was ok before god changed his mind, (2) religious faith is just a matter of pleasing your mate, and now (3) the younger we are at death, the more blessed we are.

I am very serious, Janadele. Are these the beliefs you hold?

Adam Lanza did the children he shot a favor.

All child killers are doing their victims a favor.

You're right, The media has it wrong, Adam is a national hero. Why those kids could have grown up to be all sorts of evil things, luckily he was their to snuff their lives out.

The below quoted post does not seem to have been understood. Therefore I will clarify further.
The Spirit of a male is male. The Spirit of a female is female. In the rare occasion that the gender of the mortal body of a person is not known, then the gender of the Spiritual body is also not known while in mortality.
I promised myself I wouldn't bother with this, but this seems like low hanging fruit. Why would whatever agency is in charge of spiritual matters - God, for example - be unable even to know the sex of a spirit, or for that matter to repair it if there's a problem?
