Both were moral men and Prophets of God.
Nah, they were just men, and not very nice men.
Both were moral men and Prophets of God.
Odd that a so called prophet of god would say disgusting and racist things. Both were moral men and Prophets of God.
How would you like it if someone said you were cursed? How do Mormons like it when someone makes sweeping disparaging remarks about them? What young said is not only idiotic, it's evil.Brigham Young said:I tell you, this people that are commonly called negroes are the children of old Cain. I know they are, I know that they cannot bear rule in the priesthood, for the curse on them was to remain upon them, until the residue of the posterity of Michal and his wife receive the blessings, the seed of Cain would have received had they not been cursed

So...you are racist? There is no issue to address.
What difference does it make what a Prophet of God proclaims, or what is decreed by Eternal Law, to those who have no concept, understanding or belief... it is really none of their concern nor business.
Then there is Kimball. I idolized the man. But the following bit of nonsense had a profound effect on me when I began to question my belief in Mormonism:So dark skin is a curse from God?
I'm going to be charitable and assume that your reluctance to address this issue stems from your awareness that it is appallingly racist and downright immoral to assert that dark skin is a punishment from God. This suggests to me that even you recognize problems with the Book of Mormon and that you simply refuse to acknowledge them. We aren't the ones with our eyes closed.
There is nothing more racist. Kimball was not an evil man. He had no evil intent toward native Americans. He was just ignorant of facts. The mouthpiece of god was uttering racist claptrap even if he didn't think it was racist claptrap. At the October 1960 LDS Church Conference, Spencer Kimball utilized 2 Nephi 30:6 when he stated how the Indians "are fast becoming a white and delightsome people." He said, "The [Indian] children in the home placement program in Utah are often lighter than their brothers and sisters in the hogans on the reservation" (Improvement Era, December 1960, pp. 922-3).

To quote Marley, "mankind is my business". JREF is here, in large part, to expose lies and frauds. What difference does it make what a Prophet of God proclaims, or what is decreed by Eternal Law, to those who have no concept, understanding or belief... it is really none of their concern nor business.

I could not understand how a god who loves his children, including Native Americans, wouldn't whisper into brother Kimball's ear and tell him to shut up. That people ought not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character (MLK).
I think Mormons are happy that the Church no longer prohibits blacks from holding the priesthood, but let's be very clear, the Mormon Church has never come to terms with their racist past. They've never owned up to it and said it was wrong and apologized. The Mormon church has perpetrated an evil and it ought to admit it and apologize.
When asked why it took so long to end the racist practice in the Mormon Church Hinkley, the mouthpiece of the living god, the prophet seer and revelator could only say, "I don't know".
Why are you here, then? What difference does it make what a Prophet of God proclaims, or what is decreed by Eternal Law, to those who have no concept, understanding or belief... it is really none of their concern nor business.
